Vincent Sheheen
Vincent Austin Sheheen (born April 29, 1971) is an American attorney and politician. He was a member of the South Carolina Senate from 2004 to 2020, representing the 27th District, which comprises Chesterfield, Kershaw, and Lancaster counties. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2001 to 2004. He ran for Governor of South Carolina twice, in 2010 and 2014, losing both times to Nikki Haley. In 2020, Sheheen lost reelection to Republican Penry Gustafson, who won by two percentage points. Sheheen, who is of Lebanese descent, is currently on the board of trustees for In Defense of Christians (IDC), a nonprofit advocating for the rights of Christians in the Middle East. Ralph Sheheen (born August 23, 1964) is an American sports announcer. He is one of the lead broadcasters of NASCAR Xfinity Series on NBCSN, and was the lead commentator of Feld Entertainment's AMA Supercross Championship from 2006 until 2020. He also is the co-owner of the ''Speed Sport'' franchise through his stake in Turn 3 Media, LLC, which publishes the aforementioned magazine, the Web site, and both radio and television shows. Sheheen was born in Utica, New York. Sheheen's work at Speed Channel included anchoring '' SpeedNews'', and being the lap-by-lap announcer for the World of Outlaws' Knoxville Nationals. His broadcasting career began in 1988, when he did an IMSA sports car race for ESPN. Sheheen's career has grown since. He has worked for ESPN2, FSN, TNN (now Paramount Network), and CBS. Robert Joseph Sheheen (born January 21, 1943) is an American lawyer and politician. A Democrat, Sheheen served as Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1986 to 1994. Sheheen was the first Lebanese-American to serve in the position. Early life and education Sheheen was born in Camden, South Carolina. He received a bachelor's degree from Duke University in 1965 and a law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1968. Sheheen later received honorary degrees from The Citadel and Winthrop University. Political career Sheheen was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1977 to 2000; he served as speaker from 1986 to 1994.
