Sheffield Giants
The Sheffield Giants are an American football team based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, that competes in the BAFA National Leagues NFC 1 South, the second level of British American football. They operate from Sheffield Olympic Legacy Stadium and were formed in 2008 as the Sheffield Predators but re-branded to the Giants in 2016 in a nod to the Steel City Giants who folded in the 1980s. In 2012 they were crowned Division Two Bowl Champions after defeating the Peterborough Saxons at the Don Valley Stadium. BAFA National Leagues
The BAFANL (BAFA National Leagues) are the primary American football domestic League competition in Great Britain. The League is run by the British American Football Association to coordinate contact football within England, Scotland and Wales. Originally formed in the 1980s, the League was reformed in 2010 following the collapse of the British American Football League, which had run in a number of different guises since the early 1980s. Previous names of the League were the UKAFL (UK American Football League), the Budweiser League and the BNGL (British National Gridiron League). From 1998 until 2005 the League was known as the BSL (British Senior League). Sheffield Olympic Legacy Stadium
Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park Community Stadium is a stadium built at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. It occupies part of the site of the former Don Valley Stadium. The Stadium was completed in January 2022, and features a three-storey, covered stand having capacity for up to 3,900 spectators alongside 23,000 sq ft of business space and ancillary facilities. Don Valley Stadium
Don Valley Stadium was a sports stadium in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The venue, which was completed in September 1990, hosted the 1991 World Student Games. It was designed by Sheffield City Council's Design & Building Services and named after the nearby River Don. It was demolished in 2013. The stadium and facilities were also used for a variety of other events and sports. It served as a training base for the City of Sheffield Athletic Club and was the home of the Sheffield Half Marathon. Rotherham United F.C. played their home matches at Don Valley between 2008 and 2012 when they were without a ground in Rotherham. Rugby league and American football were staged there, and the Channel 4 celebrity sports show '' The Games'' also used the stadium.
