Shedaresthedevil (foaled March 2, 2017) is an American thoroughbred racehorse, best known for winning the 2020 Kentucky Oaks, the filly equivalent of the Kentucky Derby. She also won the Honeybee Stakes and Indiana Oaks at age three, the Azeri and La Troienne Stakes at age four, and the Fleur de Lis Stakes at age five. Background Shedaresthedevil was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm. She was from the first crop sire by Daredevil, who originally stood at WinStar before being exported to Turkey for the 2020 season. In part due to the success of Shedaresthedevil, Daredevil was brought back to Lane's End Farm in the United States for 2021. Shedaresthedevil is out of Starship Warpspeed by Congrats. She was sold as a weanling at the 2017 Keeneland November sales to Big Cuse Bloodstock for $100,000. 2020 Road To The Kentucky Oaks
The 2020 Road to the Kentucky Oaks is a points system by which Thoroughbred fillies will qualify for the 2020 Kentucky Oaks, which will be held on September 4 (rescheduled from the traditional first Saturday in May due to the coronavirus pandemic). The field for the Kentucky Oaks, the filly equivalent of the Kentucky Derby, is limited to fourteen horses, with up to four "also eligible" horses in case of a late withdrawal from the field. Originally, the 30 races in the Road to the Kentucky Oaks were to be held from September 2019 (when the fillies are age two) through April 2020 (when they have turned three). However, in March 2020, the growing coronavirus pandemic prompted the cancellation of several prep races, and the rescheduling of the Oaks itself. Churchill Downs is currently considering adding more qualifying races to the series with points to be determined. The Fleur de Lis Stakes is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and mares age three and older over a distance of miles on the dirt run annually in mid-June at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. History The event was inaugurated on 31 May 1975 as the Fleur de Lis Handicap and was won by the favorite Bundler defeating four other runners on a sloppy track in the time of 1:39 over the mile distance. The Indiana Oaks is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old fillies run over a distance of miles on the dirt held annually in July at Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville, Indiana. History The Indiana Oaks was inaugurated on 16 September 1995 at Hoosier Park and run over a distance of 1 mile. The event was won by the short odds-on Niner's Home who withstood the fast closing Alltheway Bertie to win by a neck in a time 1:37 flat on a fast track. Swiss Skydiver (foaled March 10, 2017) is a retired American champion Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2020 Preakness Stakes, only the sixth filly to win the second leg of the Triple Crown. She also won the 2020 Santa Anita Oaks, 2020 Alabama Stakes, and 2021 Beholder Mile. Background Swiss Skydiver is a chestnut filly with a white star bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm.
