She's So Lovely
''She's So Lovely'' is a 1997 American romantic drama film directed by Nick Cassavetes, written by John Cassavetes. At the time of its release, it received special attention because, eight years after his death, it was the first (and still only) posthumous film to feature previously unreleased material from John Cassavetes. The film stars Sean Penn and John Travolta as the respective men who bid for the affection of Maureen Murphy Quinn (Robin Wright). Harry Dean Stanton co-stars as a friend of Penn's character, and James Gandolfini plays the abusive neighbor. Plot Eddie Quinn's unruly wife Maureen drinks and smokes to excess, even though she is pregnant. Eddie has troubles of his own, disappearing for days at a time. Nicholas David Rowland Cassavetes (born May 21, 1959) is an American actor, director, and writer. He has directed such films as ''She's So Lovely'' (1997), ''John Q.'' (2002), ''The Notebook'' (2004), '' Alpha Dog'' (2006), and '' My Sister's Keeper'' (2009). His acting credits include an uncredited role in ''Husbands'' (1970)—which was directed by his father, John Cassavetes—as well as roles in the films ''The Wraith'' (1986), ''Face/Off'' (1997), and ''Blow'' (2001). Andrew Johnston (1968–2008) was a film and TV critic. He wrote primarily for ''Time Out New York'' and ''Us Weekly'' and was also editor of the "Time In" section of ''Time Out New York''. Biography Andrew Johnston was born in Washington, D.C., and spent most of his youth in Charlottesville, Virginia, apart from the five years he was a student at the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education in Puducherry, India. After returning from India he graduated from Tandem Friends School in Charlottesville, Virginia, and subsequently earned a B.A in English from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and a M.S.in Journalism from Columbia University.
