Shayda Award
Shayda Award (Gujarati:શયદા ઍવોર્ડ) is an annual award given to a young Gujarati ghazal poet. It was founded by the INT Aditya Birla Centre for Performing Arts & Research. The award is named after Gujarati ghazal poet Harji Lavji Damani, known by his pen name Shayda. A prize of 10000 is awarded to recognize and promote Gujarati ghazal poets. Ghazal
The ''ghazal'' ( ar, غَزَل, bn, গজল, Hindi-Urdu: /, fa, غزل, az, qəzəl, tr, gazel, tm, gazal, uz, gʻazal, gu, ગઝલ) is a form of amatory poem or ode, originating in Arabic poetry. A ghazal may be understood as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain. The ghazal form is ancient, tracing its origins to 7th-century Arabic poetry. The ghazal spread into South Asia in the 12th century due to the influence of Sufi mystics and the courts of the new Islamic Sultanate, and is now most prominently a form of poetry of many languages of the Indian subcontinent and Turkey. A ghazal commonly consists of five to fifteen couplets, which are independent, but are linked – abstractly, in their theme; and more strictly in their poetic form. Ankit Trivedi
Ankit Trivedi (born 9 March 1981) is a Gujarati language poet, writer, columnist, and emcee from Gujarat, India. His significant works include ''Gazal Purvak'' (collection of ghazals) and ''Geet Purvak'' (collection of geets). The Indian National Theater in Mumbai awarded him the 2008 Shayda Award for his contribution to Gujarati ghazal. He has received the Takhtasinh Parmar Prize, Yuva Gaurav Puraskar, and the Yuva Puraskar. In 2019, he was awarded a D.Lit. by Gujarat University. Early life Trivedi was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat to Amarishkumar and Jayshribahen. He took his schooling at Ahmedabad and completed a Bachelor of Commerce from Gujarat University. Trivedi married Bhumika Trivedi on 12 December 2010. They have a daughter named Mitra. Pranav Pandya
Pranav Vinodbhai Pandya is a Gujarati-language writer, poet and columnist from Gujarat, India. In 2013, he received Kavi Ravji Patel Yuva Sahitya Pratibha Award, instituted by Gujarat Samachar. In 2019, the Indian National Theatre awarded him the Shayda Award for his contribution to Gujarati poetry. Biography Pranav Pandya was born on 16 March 1976, on the day of Dhuleti, in Amreli. The'Mumbai Samachar'', is the oldest continuously published newspaper in India. Established in 1822 by Fardunjee Marzban, it is published in Gujarati and English. Harsh Brahmbhatt (Gujarati: હર્ષ બ્રહ્મભટ્ટ; born 1954) is a Gujarati language poet and writer from Gujarat, India. He has also made significant contributions to the Urdu ghazal form.
