Shaun Ata
Shaun Ata is a New Zealand rυgby league player who played professionally in Australia and England. Playing career Ata played for the Hibiscus Cȯast Raiders in the Bartercard Cup. In 2004, he joined the Penrith Panthers. Although he did not play first grade he did play in the 2004 World Sevens. In 2006 he played for the London Skolars. He later returned to New Zealand, playing for Harbour League in the Bartercard Cup and representing New Zealand Māori in their tour of the Cooκ Islands. Ata then returned to playing for the Hibiscus Coast Raiders The Hibiscus Coast Raiders are a rugby league club based on the Hibiscus Coast, New Zealand. New Zealand Māori rugby league team is a rugby league representative side made up of New Zealand Māori players. The side represents the New Zealand Māori Rugby league. Like its union counterpart, the rugby league team previously competed in international competitions. With some controversy, the team participated in the 2000 World Cup as Aotearoa Māori. The Super League International Board had agreed to give a place in their World Cup to the New Zealand Māori team as they attempted to gain allies during the Super League war. Despite that World Cup not taking place, the Rugby League International Federation repeated the offer for the 2000 World Cup when it replaced the Super League International Board following the end of the dispute. Hibiscus Coast Raiders
The Hibiscus Coast Raiders are a rugby league club based on the Hibiscus Coast, New Zealand. They compete in Auckland Rugby League's Fox Memorial competition and between 2000 and 2005 were also involved in the Bartercard Cup competition. History The club was formed in 1982 by a group of players that included former Kiwi Ken Stirling. In 1997 the club moved from its original location at Edith Hopper Park to Stanmore Bay Reserve. Before Brian McClennan took over as coach in the late 1990s they were a third division side, but the club enjoyed success and growth to the point where in 1998, the Premiers won the Northern Regional Cup and we were invited to move up into the Fox Memorial Tournament. They were then invited to be part of the New Zealand Rugby League's new Bartercard Cup in 2000 and the club won the 2001 Bartercard Cup. Harbour League
Harbour League were a franchise in the now defunct Bartercard Cup rugby league competition in New Zealand. They represented Aucklands North Shore City. They were formed in 2006 to take over from the Hibiscus Coast Raiders and the North Harbour Tigers due to the New Zealand Rugby League wishing to reduce the number of Auckland teams in favour of more regional sides. Notable players New Zealand Warriors associated with the club included: Louis Anderson and Tony Martin while other squad members included Jeremiah Pai, Kevin Locke and Kimi Uasi. 2006 season In 2006 Harbour League finished sixth on the table, missing out on a finals berth by one point.
