Shatter (film)
''Shatter'' is a 1974 action film starring Stuart Whitman, Lung Ti, Lily Li, Anton Diffring and Peter Cushing. It was the second and final international co-production between Hammer Film Productions of England and Shaw Brothers Studio of Hong Kong. The film was shot entirely on location in Hong Kong. Plot outline Shatter (Stuart Whitman) is a hitman contracted to kill a dictator in a certain African country. He completes his assignment and returns to Hong Kong to collect his fee, only to learn that he himself is the next target of the assassination because he was intended to be used as a scapegoat by his client for a larger political agenda. Being pursued by various government agencies and gangsters, Shatter seeks help from a master martial artist Tai Pah (Lung Ti) and promises to share half of his fee in exchange for Tai Pah's protection and assistance in recovering his fee. Michael Carreras
Michael Henry Carreras (21 December 1927 – 19 April 1994) was a British film producer and director. He was known for his association with Hammer Film Productions, Hammer Films, being the son of founder James Carreras, and taking an executive role in the company during its most successful years. As producer, he worked on ''The Curse of Frankenstein'' (1957), ''Dracula (1958 film), Dracula'' (1958) and ''The Curse of the Werewolf'' (1960) and ''She (1965 film), She'' (1965) among over sixty other films. Contract killing is a form of murder or assassination in which one party hires another party to kill a targeted person or persons. Shaw Brothers (HK) Ltd. () was the largest film production company in Hong Kong, and operated from 1925 to 2011. In 1925, three Shaw brothers— Runje, Runme, and Runde—founded Tianyi Film Company (also called "Unique") in Shanghai, and established a film distribution base in Singapore, where Runme and their youngest brother, Run Run Shaw, managed the precursor to the parent company, Shaw Organisation. Sir Run Run Shaw (19 November 1907 – 7 January 2014), also known as Shao Yifu and Siu Yat-fu, was a Hong Kong entertainment mogul and philanthropist. He was one of the most influential figures in the Asian entertainment industry. Shifu () in Mandarin, or sifu in Cantonese, or sai hu in Hokkien, is a title for, and the role of, a skillful person or a master.
