Shashanka Shekhar Sarkar
Shashanka Shekhar Sarkar is a Bangladeshi jurist who became a justice of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court in 2018. Early life Sarkar was born on 6 June 1968 in a Bengali Hindu family. He has an LL.B. and LL.M. from the University of Dhaka. Career Sarkar became a lawyer at the Dhaka District Court on 15 September 1992. He became a lawyer of the High Court Division on 22 January 1994. In February 2009, President Iajuddin Ahmed appointed Sarkar deputy attorney general. In October 2010, Sarkar represented the Attorney General of Bangladesh at a special court of the Bangladesh Rifles in Chapai Nawabganj District formed for the trial of 30 soldiers accused of participating in the Bangladesh Rifles mutiny. He was also represented the Attorney General of Bangladesh at the Satkhira District special court of Bangladesh Rifles for the trial of 105 mutineers of the 41 Rifles Battalion. The High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh ( bn, হাইকোর্ট ডিভিশন) popularly known as the 'High Court' is one of the two divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the other division being the Appellate Division. It consists of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh and the Judges of the High Court Division. The High Court Division exercises both original jurisdiction and appellate jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters. Bangabandhu's Mausoleum is the mausoleum of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder and the first president of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It is located in Tungipara of Gopalganj district, the birthplace of Mujib, and was designed by architects Ehsan Khan, Ishtiaque Jahir and Iqbal Habib. After Sheikh Mujibur Rahman died in 1975, he was buried in Tungipara. For many years the military junta restricted access to the grave site. Syed Mahmud Hossain (born 31 December 1954) was the 22nd Chief Justice of Bangladesh. He retired on 30 December 2021.
