Shaquille Quarterman
Shaquille Quarterman (born October 28, 1997) is an American football linebacker who is a free agent. He played college football at Miami (FL). Early years Quarterman grew up in Orange Park, Florida and attended Oakleaf High School. He posted 137 tackles, 8 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks for the Knights in his junior season. He was rated four-stars and as one of the top 10 inside linebacker recruits in the nation by ''ESPN'', ''Scout.com'', ''Rivals.com'' and ''247Sports'' and committed to play college football at the University of Miami during his junior year. As a senior, Quarterman made 101 tackles and was named the Regional Defensive Player of the Year by ''The Florida Times-Union'' and played in the All-America Bowl after the end of the season. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. Butkus Award
The Butkus Award, instituted in 1985 by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, is given annually to the top linebackers at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of football. The award, named in honor of College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus, is presented by the Butkus Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports a number of health and wellness activities including the "I Play Clean" anti-steroid program. The award was first established by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, which relinquished control of the award in 2008 following a lawsuit by Butkus.
