Shaq Thompson
Shaquille Green Thompson (born April 21, 1994) is an American football outside linebacker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Washington. He also had a short stint with the Boston Red Sox organization as part of their rookie team in the Gulf Coast League. Since being drafted he has played a hybrid safety/linebacker position for the Panthers, also known as the "big nickel". Early years A native of Sacramento, California, Thompson attended Grant Union High School, where he was a three-sport star in football, track and baseball. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. Safety (American Football Position)
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field.
