''Shaq Diesel'' is the debut album by American professional basketball player and rapper Shaquille O'Neal, released on October 26, 1993 through Jive Records. The album features production from Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Def Jef, Erick Sermon, K-Cut and Meech Wells, and guest appearances from Def Jef, Phife Dawg and Fu-Schnickens. Despite mixed reviews, the album became a surprising success, reaching 25 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and eventually reaching platinum status on March 21, 1994 for shipping of one million copies. "What's Up Doc? (Can We Rock)" is the lead single from Fu-Schnickens' second studio album, ''Nervous Breakdown''. The song featured NBA star Shaquille O'Neal and was produced by Main Source member K-Cut. The song was a top-40 hit in 1993 and was certified gold by the RIAA for sales of 500,000 copies. Background Released in the summer of 1993, "What's Up Doc? (Can We Rock)" became a top 40 hit, peaking at No. 39 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The song had previously been simply titled "What's Up Doc?" and featured a sample of Bugs Bunny saying the title, but because the group could not get sample clearance from Warner Bros., this version was not released. Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, and composer. Hancock started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd's group. Fu-Schnickens were an American hip-hop trio from 1988 to 1995, based in Brooklyn, New York. History Fu-Schnickens was composed of Chip Fu (Roderick Roachford), Moc Fu (Joe Jones), and Poc Fu (Lennox Maturine). ''Fu'' stood for unity and ''schnicken'' was a made-up word that meant "coalition".
