Shankar Nath Rimal
Shankar Nath Rimal (born 5 March 1935) is a Nepalese civil engineer and architect. He is best known for standardising the modern Nepalese flag. He has also designed many prominent buildings and monuments in Nepal. Sahid gate of Sundhara, Ramananda gate of Janakpur, Bhaleshwar temple of Chandragiri hill and Solatee hotel are some of the prominent structure he has designed. Early life and education He was born on 5 March 1935 (22 Falgun 1991 BS) in Tangal, Kathmandu to father Devendra Nath Rimal and mother Sita Devi Rimal. He received his primary education from Nandiratri School, Naxal and completed his SLC-level education from Durbar High School in 1950. He enrolled in Bengal Engineering College to study electrical engineering under Colombo plan but later shifted to civil engineering. He graduated in 1957. Narayanhiti Palace
The Narayanhiti Palace Museum ( Nepali: नारायणहिटी दरवार) is a public museum in Kathmandu, Nepal located east of the Kaiser Mahal and next to Thamel. The museum was created in 2008 from the complex of the former Narayanhiti Palace (or Narayanhiti Durbar) following the 2006 revolution. Before the revolution, the palace was the residence and principal workplace of the monarch of the Kingdom of Nepal, and hosted occasions of state. The existing palace complex was built by King Mahendra in 1963, and incorporates an impressive array of courtyards, gardens and buildings. Etymology The name, ''Narayanhiti'' is made up of two words 'Narayana' and 'Hiti'. Narayan is the Hindu god Vishnu, whose temple is opposite the palace. Bhaleshwor Mahadev
Bhaleshwor Mahadev () is a Hindu temple located in Chandragiri hill in south-west side of Kathmandu Valley. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at the altitude of 2551 meters above sea level. The temple was built by Chandragiri Hills on the historic and religious site. The temple was designed by the architect Shankar Nath Rimal. The temple is connected to the Kathmandu valley by a cable car. Mythological significance It is believed that Sati Devi, first consort of Shiva, sacrificed her own life at Daksha Prajapati’s yagna after Daksha insulted Shiva in front of other deities. Shiva, enraged with Sati Devi's death, carried her dead body on his back and walked across the world in rage. Shiva, blinded by rage, did not realize that Sati Devi’s decaying body was falling apart.
