Shane Burton
Franklin Shane Burton (born January 18, 1974) is a former American football defensive tackle who played eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was a member of the Miami Dolphins, the Chicago Bears, the New York Jets, and the Carolina Panthers. He played college football at Tennessee. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 1996 NFL Draft. Born in Logan, West Virginia, Burton grew up in Chapmanville, West Virginia and attended Chapmanville Jr. High School until his family moved to North Carolina during his last year of junior high. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. Chapmanville is a town in Logan County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,025 at the 2020 census. Chapmanville is named for Ned Chapman, an early settler who operated a store and post office. It was incorporated in 1947. Geography Chapmanville is located in northern Logan County at (37.971615, -82.020017). It is situated between the mouth of Crawley Creek and Godby Branch along the Guyandotte River at a point where the northward-flowing river briefly bends sharply southwestwardly before turning north again.
