Shane Barr
Shane Barr (born 21 October 1969) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Career Barr was the boys' singles champion at the 1985 Australian Open, beating Steve Furlong in the final. Also that year, Barr was a member of the Australian team which won the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup, World Youth Cup, a junior version of the Davis Cup. He was twice a runner-up in the boys' doubles at Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slams, in the 1986 Wimbledon Championships with Hubert Karrasch and partnering Bryan Roe in the 1987 Australian Open. Barr and Roe were defeated in the final by the Jason Stoltenberg/Todd Woodbridge combination and it was also Woodbridge that beat him in the singles semi-finals. The Grand Prix tennis circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players that existed from 1970 to 1989. The Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis (WCT) were the two predecessors to the current tour for male players, the ATP Tour, with the Grand Prix being more prominent. Background Before the Open Era, popular professional tennis players, such as Suzanne Lenglen and Vincent Richards, were contracted to professional promoters. Amateur players were under the jurisdiction of their national (and international) federations. Later professional promoters, such as Bill Tilden and Jack Kramer, often convinced leading amateurs like Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver to join their tours with promises of good prize money. Darren Cahill (born 2 October 1965) is a tennis coach and former professional tennis player from Australia. Todd Woodbridge
Todd Andrew Woodbridge, OAM (born 2 April 1971) is an Australian former professional tennis player and current sports broadcaster with the Nine Network. Woodbridge is best known for his successful Doubles partnerships with Mark Woodforde (nicknamed "The Woodies") and later Jonas Björkman.
