''Shams'' (Arabic language, Arabic: شمس; ''Sun'') was a Saudi Arabian daily newspaper published between 2005 and 2012. Its publisher described the paper as modern and trendy. History and profile ''Shams'' was launched as a Tabloid journalism, tabloid paper in December 2005. Turki bin Khalid bin Faisal, a grandson of Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was the chairman of the board of directors of Shams Information Company for Publishing and Development. It was also reported that he partly owned the paper. Al Wataniya group was also the founder of the daily. There is inconsistent information about the daily print of ''Shams''. The media group publishing the paper gave the number of daily print as 120,000. Shamss Ensemble
The Shamss Ensemble is a musical group that performs traditional Sufi and classical Iranian music with the Tanbour, Daf (frame drum), Ney and various other percussion instruments. The group was founded by composer Kaykhosro Pournazeri. His sons Tahmoures and Sohrab are also members of the group. History Pournazeri formed the Shamss Ensemble with a vision of bringing back the lost art of Tanbour through compositions that fused the Tanbour with other traditional classical mode instruments. He invited fellow musicians who were familiar playing such classical pieces, they eventually became a popular musical ensemble in Iran. Initially, the group performed under the name of Tanbour-e-Shams, but adding traditional and Kurdish music to their performances, they took the name of the Shamss Ensemble. Thee Shams
Thee Shams (pronounced ''The'' Shams) was a garage rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, consisting of Zachary Gabbard, Andrew Gabbard, Joey Sebaali, Chad Hardwick, Adam Wesley, Max Bender, and Keith Fox. They were signed to Mississippi's Fat Possum Records and also released records on Shake It Records and several other small labels. Many of Thee Shams' recordings were engineered by John Curley (of Afghan Whigs fame) at Ultrasuede Studios in Cincinnati. The band played a large role in Cincinnati's garage rock scene until they broke up in 2006. Jebel Shams
Jabal Shams or Jebel Shams ( ar, جَبَل شَمْس, Mountain of Sun) is a mountain located in northeastern Oman north of Al Hamra town. It is known as Jabal Shams because it is the first place to receive sunrise in Oman due to its high peak. It is the highest mountain of the Hajar range and the country. Association Shams ( ar, جمعية شمس, Jamʿiyyat Shams) is a Tunisian organization for LGBT rights, campaigning for sexual minority rights in Tunisia. The Shams
The Shams were an all-female New York folk pop trio in the 1980s and early 1990s, featuring Amy McMahon Rigby, Sue Garner, and Amanda Uprichard. Some critics have credited the band with pioneering elements of what would later become known as the Americana and No Depression movements in American music. Others have described them as "queens of urban folkdom" or " riot grrrls unplugged." Punk rock musician Richard Hell has labeled their music "beauty parlor soul."
