Shamik Ghosh ( bn, শমীক ঘোষ born 16 January 1983) is an Indian author writing in Bengali. He has won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar (Indian National Academy of Letter's Youth Prize) in 2017 in Bengali for his debut short story collection "Elvis O Amolasundari" His shorty 'Half Timer Pawre' from the collection was selected by Hervill Secker, an imprint of Vintage, Penguin Random House, U.K for the Harvill Secker Young Translators’ Prize 2018. The story was published in Granta online He has been awarded the Ila Chanda Smriti Puraskar by the oldest literary Institution of India, Bangiya Sahitya Parishad. and Somen Chanda Smriti Smarok by West Bengal Bengali Academy in 2019. Bangiya Sahitya Parishad
Bangiya Sahitya Parishat is a literary society in Maniktala of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Established during the time of the British Raj, its goal is to promote Bengali literature, both by translating works in other languages to Bengali and promoting the production of original Bengali literature. The organisation was founded by L. Leotard and Kshetrapal Chakraborty in 1893. Then it was known as ''The Bengal Academy of Literature''. ''Desh'' ( bn, দেশ) is an esteemed Bengali language literary magazine published by the ABP Group from India on the 2nd and the 17th of every month. This magazine, which is in publication since 1933, has been edited by editors like Sagarmoy Ghosh in the past. The present editor is Suman Sengupta. After the death of Sagarmoy Ghosh, ''Desh'' started publishing non-fiction articles and essays on topics of current, historical and cultural interest. South Point is a higher-secondary co-educational private school located in Kolkata, West Bengal and affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, consisting of three organisations – South Point School (Nursery to Class V), South Point High School (Classes VI to XII) and South Point Education Society (administrative authority). The school operates in two shifts for all classes – Morning and Afternoon (day). The school opened in 1954, and was the first co-educational school in Kolkata.
