''Shaman'' is the nineteenth studio album by Santana (band), Santana. Shaman was released on October 22, 2002, and debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 with first week sales of 298,973. It was certified Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA and Gold in Greece. The first single of the album was "The Game of Love (Santana song), The Game of Love", featuring Michelle Branch. Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by American guitarist Carlos Santana. The band has undergone multiple recording and performing line-ups in its history, with Santana the only consistent member. After signing with Columbia Records, the band's appearance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 increased their profile and went on to record the commercially successful and critically-acclaimed albums ''Santana'' (1969), ''Abraxas'' (1970), and ''Santana III'' (1971). Howard Benson
Howard Benson is an American music producer and multi-instrumentalist. He was nominated for the Producer of the Year Grammy Award in 2007 and 2008. Early life and education Benson was born and raised in a middle-class family in greater Philadelphia, the son of Estelle and Robert Benson. He is of Jewish descent. He began playing keyboards in rock bands at the age of 13. He attended college at Drexel University and studied engineering. "The Game of Love" is a song by American rock band Santana from their 18th studio album, ''Shaman'' (2002). The vocal performance on the song is by Michelle Branch. It was composed by Gregg Alexander (as Alex Ander) and Rick Nowels. It was released on October 31, 2005 (see 2005 in music) in most of the world and a day later in the United States. ''The Essential Santana'' is a compilation album by Santana, released on 22 October 2002. The collection is part of a series of ''Essential'' sets released by Columbia Records. Uniquely among Santana compilations, " Soul Sacrifice" is included in the studio version from their first album, not the live performance from Woodstock. The compilation contains no songs from the highly successful ''Supernatural'' album, despite it being released 3 years before this album. This is because Columbia and Santana's current label Arista Records were not under common ownership at the time. Walter Afanasieff (born Vladimir Nikitich Afanasyev; February 10, 1958), formerly nicknamed Baby Love in the 1980s, is an American record producer and songwriter of Russian-Chinese descent. He was a collaborator with Mariah Carey on her first six studio albums. J. B. Eckl is a Canadian songwriter, producer, and recording artist. Eckl lives in Topanga Canyon, near Los Angeles, California. After doing some guitar session work with Latin pop producer K. C. Porter, Eckl signed as a staff songwriter for Porter's Insignia Music, a joint venture with Paramount subsidiary Famous Music Publishing. Soon after, he was asked to go on tour playing guitar with the 1970s funk band War. He spent two years traveling and playing with other musicians, most notably Carlos Santana. He later worked with K. Michael Shrieve
Michael Shrieve (born July 6, 1949) is an American drummer, percussionist, and composer. He is best known as the drummer of the rock band Santana, playing on the band's first seven albums from 1969 to 1974. At age 20, Shrieve was the second youngest musician to perform at Woodstock. His drum solo during " Soul Sacrifice" in the ''Woodstock'' film has been described as "electrifying", although he considers his drum solo during "Soul Sacrifice" in 1970 at Tanglewood as being better.
