Shai Abuhatsira
Shai Abuhatsira (Hebrew: שי אבוחצירה; born July 19, 1980) is an Israeli public servant. He served as a deputy Mayor of Haifa between 2011 and 2018. Abuhatsira is the youngest to ever serve in this position. Early life Abuhatsira is the son of Eliyhau and Nelly. Abuhatsira is the fourth son in his family and he has three sisters. He was born and raised in Kiryat Ata and is of Jewish Moroccan descent. He is a distant relative of Moroccan Sephardi rabbi Baba Sali. He graduated from high school at age 18 and shortly after military service, he attended the University of Haifa. Kiryat Ata
Kiryat Ata ( he, קִרְיַת אָתָא; also Qiryat Ata) is a city in the Haifa District of Israel. In it had a population of , 92% of whom were Jewish citizens. History The Early Bronze Age site at Qiryat Ata has been extensively excavated since 1990, revealing stratified remains from the Neolithic, EB (=early Bronze Age), IB and EB II periods. At ''Tell el ‘Idham'' remains from a continuous habitation from the early Bronze Age, through the Achaemenid Empire, Persian age down to the Roman Empire, Roman era have been identified. Baba Sali
Israel Abuhatzeira ( he, ר׳ יִשְׂרָאֵל אַבּוּחַצִירָא), known as the Baba Sali ( ar, بابا صلى, he, בַּאבָּא סָאלִי, lit. "Praying Father") (1889–1984) was a leading Moroccan Sephardic rabbi and kabbalist who was renowned for his alleged ability to work miracles through his prayers. His burial place in Netivot, Israel has become a shrine for prayers and petitioners. Early life and family Israel Abuhatzeira was born on Rosh Hashanah 5650 (1889). He was the scion of the distinguished Abu Hasira/Abuhatzeira family of Sephardic Torah scholars and tzadikim who were also known as ''baalei mofet'' (miracle workers). Yona Yahav
Yona Yahav ( he, יונה יהב, born 19 June 1944) is an Israeli lawyer and politician. He was formerly a member of the Knesset for the Labor Party. Yahav was the mayor of Haifa between 2003 and 2018. In the 2018 Haifa mayoral election, he lost to Einat Kalisch-Rotem. Biography Yahav was born in Haifa during the period of the Mandate era. During his national service he reached the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Military Police Corps of the IDF. He studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, gaining a LL.B, before continuing his legal studies at the University of London, where he served as secretary-general of the World Union of Jewish Students. A rabbi () is a spiritual leader or religious teacher in Judaism.
