Shahrakan is a village situated in the western side of the Kingdom of Bahrain, south of the village of Malkiya. The village lies in the Northern Governorate administrative region. It has a population of approximately 3,000 people. Malkiya, Bahrain
Malkiya ( ar, المالكية) is a coastal village that lies on the western coast of Bahrain Island in Bahrain. The village is home to the Malkiya Club football team. In 2007, protests broke out in the area when a powerful member of the Bahraini royal family tried to seize some of the coastline of the village. The 2011 Bahraini uprising was a series of anti-government protests in Bahrain led by the Shia-dominant and some Sunni Islam, Sunni minority Bahraini opposition from 2011 until 2014. The protests were inspired by the unrest of the 2011 Arab Spring and protests in Tunisia and Egypt and escalated to daily clashes after the Bahraini government repressed the revolt with the support of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Peninsula Shield Force.
