Shahnoor Studios
The Shahnoor Studios (also spelled as Shahnur Studios) is the studio taken over by Syed Shaukat Hussain Rizvi and his first wife, Noor Jehan in the aftermath of the independence of Pakistan in 1947. The studio is one of the oldest studios in Lahore, Pakistan and was previously known as Shori Studios. Historical background During the 1940s in Bombay, Rizvi initially owned a company called ''Shaukat Art Productions''. Saadat Hasan Manto
Saadat Hasan Manto (; Punjabi, ur, , ; 11 May 1912 – 18 January 1955) was a Pakistani writer, playwright and author born in Ludhiana, who was active in British India and later, after the 1947 partition of India, in Pakistan. Writing mainly in Urdu, he produced 22 collections of short stories, a novel, five series of radio plays, three collections of essays and two collections of personal sketches. His best short stories are held in high esteem by writers and critics. He is best known for his stories about the partition of India, which he opposed, immediately following independence in 1947. Manto was tried for obscenity six times; thrice before 1947 in British India, and thrice after independence in 1947 in Pakistan, but was never convicted. Zil-e-Huma( ur, ) (26 February 1944 – 16 May 2014) was a Pakistani singer and daughter of Noor Jehan. Early life Born to Jehan-Rizvi family, she was the youngest daughter of Noor Jehan and Syed Shaukat Hussain Rizvi from Noor Jehan's first marriage. Noor Jehan and Shaukat Hussain Rizvi together also had 2 older sons named Akbar Rizvi and Asghar Rizvi. Feroz Nizami (born Ferozuddin Ahmad; 10 November 1910 – 15 November 1975), was a Pakistani film score composer, music director and classical singer. He composed music for bollywood films in British India and after partition, he remained actively involved in Pakistan film industry. He is primarily recognized as a music composer for a music blockbuster Indian film '' Jugnu'' (1947), which helped him to appear among the prominent composers in both India and Pakistan cinemas. ''Jugnu'' () is a 1947 Indian musical romantic comedy film directed and produced by Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. The film stars Dilip Kumar and Noor Jehan in lead roles with Ghulam Mohammad, Jillo, Latika, Shashikala in supporting roles. It also features a cameo appearance by Mohammed Rafi. ''Zeenat '' is a 1945 Indian Muslim social melodrama film directed by Syed Shaukat Hussain Rizvi and starring Noor Jehan, Yakub, Majid, Himalayawala, and Karan Dewan. It was produced by Shirazali Hakim and Ramzanali S. Lakhani. The film's story and dialogue was written by Wajahat Mirza Changezi. The music was composed by Meer Saheb and Hafiz Khan while the background music was provided by Rafiq Ghaznavi. It is the story of a young girl who loses her husband a few days after her wedding as a result of a fall from a horse but not before they have spent a night together unbeknownst to others, leaving her pregnant. Sajjad Hussain (composer)
Sajjad Hussain (15 June 1917 – 21 July 1995) was an Indian film score composer. He was also an accomplished mandolinist, playing the mandolin as a "Top Grade" player for the Indian film industry in Mumbai for more than five decades, reputed to have played more than 22,000 songs, including title-songs and background music. Besides the music for movies, he was known to play Indian classical music (Hindustani), as well as Arabic music and Sufi music. Biography Sajjad Hussain was born in 1917 in Sitamau, which was at that time, a village in the then Central India Agency, now part of Madhya Pradesh, India .
