Shah Faisal Town ( sd, شاہ فیصل ٽائون ur, ), lies in the eastern part of the city that took its name from Shah Faisal Colony. History Shah Faisal Town was formed in 2001 as part of The Local Government Ordinance 2001, and was subdivided into 11 union councils. The town system was disbanded in 2011, and Shah Faisal Town was re-organized as part of Karachi East District, before being amalgamated into the new Korangi District. The federal government introduced local government reforms in the year 2000, which eliminated the previous "third tier of government" (administrative divisions) and replaced it with the fourth tier (districts). The effect in Karachi was the dissolution of the former Karachi Division in 2001, and the merging of its five districts to form a new Karachi City-District with eighteen autonomous constituent towns including Shah Faisal Town. Towns In Karachi
Karachi, Pakistan was a federation of eighteen autonomous boroughs, called "Towns," that made up the City District of Karachi from 2001 until 2011. Under this now-defunct system, Karachi had a local government system, with a mayor empowered to make decisions in regards to city-planning and administration of local services. The Faisal Cantonment ( ur, )is a cantonment town of the city of Karachi, in Sindh, Pakistan. It serves as an Airforce base and residential establishment. PAF Base established in 1925, as a strategically important British Royal Air force Base. Drigh Road Cantonment was established in 1925 for the civilian population near the British Royal Air force Base, vide Government of Bombay Revenue Department Notification No.4840/24 dated 04-11-1925. In 1947 it was renamed as Faisal Cantonment. The municipal limits of the Cantonment Board were altered twice: in 1988 and 1995. Malir River
Malir River ( ur, دریائے ملیر) is a seasonal river located in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It passes through the city of Karachi from the northeast, through the center, and drains into the Arabian Sea. It is one of the two rivers passing through Karachi, the other being the Lyari River. It has two main tributaries, the Thadho and the Sukhan.
