''Shadow of the Hawk'' is a 1976 American-Canadian horror film directed by George McCowan and written by Norman Thaddeus Vane and Herbert Wright. The film stars Jan-Michael Vincent, Marilyn Hassett, Chief Dan George, Pia Shandel, Marianne Jones and Jacques Hubert. The film was released on July 14, 1976, by Columbia Pictures. The film was shot on location in British Columbia Canada using West Vancouver, Vancouver and the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge as backdrops throughout. Plot An old Native American Shaman trains his skeptical grandson to take over for him as the new tribal “Medicine Man” of his small village. Along the way, they battle the Shaman’s enemies, and their black magic. George McCowan
George McCowan (June 27, 1927 – November 1, 1995) was a Canadian film and television director in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. McCowan began his career working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He worked as an actor and director for several seasons at the Stratford Festival, and moved to the United States in 1967. He directed episodes of '' Charlie's Angels'', ''S.W.A.T.'', and '' Starsky and Hutch'', as well as every episode of the popular Canadian series '' Seeing Things''. He also worked on such shows as ''The Silent Force'', ''The Mod Squad'', ''The Streets of San Francisco'', ''Fantasy Island'', and ''Hart to Hart''. ''Nightwing'' is a 1979 American horror film directed by the Canadian filmmaker Arthur Hiller.
