Shadow Play (horse)
Shadow Play (foaled 5 June 2005 in Pennsylvania) is a world-record-holding standardbred racehorse. He was sired by The Panderosa, out of Matts Filly, a Matts Scooter mare. The colt was purchased as a yearling for $16,000, and is owned by Dr Ian Moore of Charlottetown, PEI, R G McGroup LTD of Bathurst, NB, and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Serge Savard of Saint-Bruno, Quebec. 2 Year Old Campaign Shadow Play made his racing debut on 21 June 2007 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Along with owner and trainer Ian Moore, he beat a field of maiden pacers by 4-1/2 lengths. Shortly thereafter, Moore shipped the colt to Ontario, where he raced for the remainder of his 2-year-old year. He finished 2nd in 2 legs of the Dream Maker Pacing Series, followed by a 4th in the final. The highlight of his year was a 3rd-place finish in an elimination of The Metro Pace at Mohawk. Maywood Park
Maywood Park was a horse racing venue located in Melrose Park, Illinois, United States, about 12 miles from downtown Chicago. It was used for harness racing. It had a capacity of 33,297 people and was built in 1946. The track was a half-mile oval. The track closed in 2015. The track, which had been in unincorporated Cook County, was located in Melrose Park. Demolition began in early 2019; the structures are to be replaced by an industrial and warehouse development. It was replaced by an Amazon distribution center in 2020. History The land that would house Maywood Park was purchased by Arthur T. The Windy City Pace was a harness race for 3-year-old Standardbred pacing horses. It was run annually from 1983 to 2015 at Maywood Park in Melrose Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago (''City in a Garden''); I Will , image_map = , map_caption = Interactive Map of Chicago , coordinates = , coordinates_footnotes = , subdivision_type = Country , subdivision_name .... The race was originally run during Maywood's spring meet but, after 1991, it was run in the fall. Elimination heats were required to determine the finalists for the main race. The Little Brown Jug is a harness race for three-year-old pacing standardbred horses hosted by the Delaware County Agricultural Society since 1946 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds racetrack in Delaware, Ohio. The race takes place every year on the third Thursday after Labor Day. Along with the Hambletonian, a race for trotters, it is one of the two most coveted races for standardbreds.
