Seán Moore (Irish Politician)
Seán Moore (19 May 1913 – 1 October 1986) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician. Moore was born in Dublin in 1913 and grew up in Irishtown, Dublin. He was educated at the Vocational School in Ringsend and University College Dublin where he received a diploma in Social and Economic Science. He worked as an official with the Alliance and Dublin Consumers' Gas Company before becoming involved in politics. Moore first held political office in 1950 when he was elected to Dublin City Council, a position he would hold until 1979. He served as Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1963 to 1964. Moore was elected to Dáil Éireann as a Fianna Fáil Teachta Dála (TD) on his third attempt at the 1965 general election, representing the Dublin South-East constituency in the 18th Dáil. In 1979 Charles Haughey came to power and Moore became Government Chief Whip. The 18th Dáil was elected at the 1965 general election on 7 April 1965 and met on 21 April 1965. Mathew Gerrard L'Estrange (7 November 1917 – 5 April 1996) was an Irish Fine Gael politician who served as Government Chief Whip and Minister of State at the Department of Defence from June 1981 to November 1981. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Longford–Westmeath from 1965 to 1987, a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Oireachtas from 1973 to 1979 and a Senator for the Administrative Panel from 1954 to 1965. Political career L'Estrange was elected to Westmeath County Council in 1942, and served on that body until 1981. He was cathaoirleach of the council for three years from 1959 to 1961 and served on virtually all the subsidiary and other bodies to which the council made appointments. John McCann (Irish Politician)
John McCann (17 June 1905 – 23 February 1980) was an Irish politician, author and journalist. McCann was born 17 June 1905 at 28 Raymond Street, Dublin, son of Francis McCann, a painter, and Margaret McCann (née Mernagh). He was educated at Synge Street CBS, and Kevin St. and Bolton St. Colleges, he helped organise a Fianna Éireann company in the latter institutions. A founder member of Fianna Fáil in 1926, he became increasingly involved in politics and was elected to the party's national executive. McCann stood unsuccessfully for election at the 1937 and 1938 general elections. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Fianna Fáil Teachta Dála (TD) at the Dublin South by-election held on 6 June 1939. The by-election was caused by the death of James Beckett of Fine Gael. James O'Keeffe
James Joseph O'Keeffe (1912 – 20 May 1986) was an Irish Fine Gael politician. A merchant and company director, he was a member of the Seanad from 1956 to 1961. During this period he also stood unsuccessfully for Dáil Éireann in the Dublin South-West constituency at the 1951 and 1957 general elections. He succeeded at the third attempt in being elected for Dublin South-West in 1961. However he lost his seat at the 1965 general election despite increasing his vote.
