Syr Darya
The Syr Darya (, ),, , ; rus, Сырдарья́, Syrdarjja, p=sɨrdɐˈrʲja; fa, سيردريا, Sirdaryâ; tg, Сирдарё, Sirdaryo; tr, Seyhun, Siri Derya; ar, سيحون, Seyḥūn; uz, Sirdaryo, script-Latn/. historically known as the Jaxartes (, grc, Ἰαξάρτης), is a river in Central Asia. The name, which is Persian, literally means ''Syr Sea'' or ''Syr River''. It originates in the Tian Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan and eastern Uzbekistan and flows for west and north-west through Uzbekistan and southern Kazakhstan to the northern remnants of the Aral Sea. It is the northern and eastern of the two main rivers in the endorheic basin of the Aral Sea, the other being the Amu Darya (Jayhun). In the Soviet era, extensive irrigation projects were constructed around both rivers, diverting their water into farmland and causing, during the post-Soviet era, the virtual disappearance of the Aral Sea, once the world's fourth-largest lake. Hooshang Seyhoun
Houshang Seyhoun, ( fa, هوشنگ سیحون) (August 22, 1920 – May 26, 2014) was an Iranian architect, sculptor, painter, scholar and professor. He studied fine arts at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and earned a degree in architecture from University of Tehran. Seyhun is noted specially for his innovative and creative architectural design. His architectural legacy includes countless monuments and over one thousand private villas. After the Iranian Revolution he moved to Vancouver and lived in exile until his death. Seyhoon became famous for his design work in the 1950s in Iran, including: ''Tehran's Central Railway Station'' and tombs of scientific/literary figures (such as the Avicenna Mausoleum in Hamadan). He has been a faculty member of Tehran University's College of Architecture, where he also served as Dean of the College of Fine Arts (Beaux arts) of Tehran University for six years. Massoumeh Seyhoun
Massumeh Noushin Seyhoun ( fa, معصومه سیحون; née Monir Noushin; 1934–21 May, 2010) was an Iranian peoples, Iranian painter, curator, and Art dealer, gallerist. She was the founder (1966) of Seyhoun Gallery, Tehran, the longest-lived art gallery in Iran. Biography Massumeh Seyhoun was born in 1934 in Rasht, her birth name was Monir Noushin. Later her family settled in Ahvaz. She had changed her name to Massumeh. She studied at the Tehran University of Art, Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran, where her teacher was Hooshang Seyhoun, architect, sculptor, painter, who in several years had become her husband. Seyhun Topuz
Seyhun Topuz (born 1942) is a Turkish sculptor who works in a geometric abstract narrative. Life and works Topuz was born in 1942 in Balikesir and attended Law School. When her second academic year started she stopped with Law School and started to study for the Art School exams. She was accepted to the State Fine Arts Academy, MSGSÜ, and graduated from its Higher Sculpture Department. Between 1974 and 1978 she worked as an assistant in that same department. In the 1970's she opened her first personal exhibition. In 1973 Topuz was one of the 20 artists chosen to make works in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Republic and her artwork stayed at 4. Levent for a limited time.
