Sexton Ming
Sexton Ming (born 1961) is a British artist, poet and musician who was a founding member of The Medway Poets (1979) and Stuckism art movement (1999). Life and career Ming was born in Gravesend, Kent, England. In 1979 he was one of the founder members of The Medway Poets group. He is an old associate of Billy Childish and collaborated with him on albums and films up until 2008 when Ming severed contact with Childish. Ming and Childish began recording again in 2011 and released a new collaborative release in 2012. In 1999, Ming was one of the 13 original members of the Stuckists, a pro-figurative painting, anti-conceptual art, group, which was co-founded by fellow Medway Poets, Billy Childish and Charles Thomson. The Medway Poets
The Medway Poets were founded in Medway, Kent, in 1979. They were an England, English Punk ideology, punk based poetry performance group and later formed the core of the first Stuckism, Stuckists Art Group. The members were Miriam Carney, Billy Childish, Robert Earl, Bill Lewis, Sexton Ming, Charles Thomson (artist), Charles Thomson and Alan Denman. Others associated with the group include Philip Absolon, Sanchia Lewis and Tracey Emin. Most members also practised other art forms including music and painting. Ivor Cutler
Ivor Cutler (born Isadore Cutler, 15 January 1923 – 3 March 2006) was a Scottish poet, singer, musician, songwriter, artist and humorist. He became known for his regular performances on BBC radio, and in particular his numerous sessions recorded for John Peel's influential eponymous late night radio programme (BBC Radio 1), and later for Andy Kershaw's programme. He appeared in the Beatles' ''Magical Mystery Tour'' film in 1967 and on Neil Innes' television programmes. Cutler also wrote books for children and adults and was a teacher at A. S. Neill's Summerhill School and for 30 years in inner-city schools in London. In live performances Cutler would often accompany himself on a harmonium. Phyllis King appears on several of his records, and for several years was a part of his concerts. She usually read small phrases but also read a few short stories. Outsider Music
Outsider music (from "outsider art") is music created by self-taught or naïve musicians. The term is usually applied to musicians who have little or no traditional musical experience, who exhibit childlike qualities in their music, or who suffer from intellectual disabilities or mental illnesses. The term was popularized in the 1990s by journalist and WFMU DJ Irwin Chusid. Outsider musicians often overlap with lo-fi artists, since their work is rarely captured in professional recording studios.
