The Seward Mansion is a historic house at 30 Flanders Road, in Turkey Brook Park, Mount Olive Township, Morris County, New Jersey. The mansion, described using its historic name, Seward House, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 24, 2013, for its significance in architecture. History and description The Italianate stone farmhouse, built around 1865, was the home of Henry Clay Seward (born 1829), son of Henry Seward (born 1795), a cousin of William Henry Seward (1801–1872). The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) is a government agency in the U.S. state of New Jersey that is responsible for managing the state's natural resources and addressing issues related to pollution. NJDEP now has a staff of approximately 2,850. The department was created on April 22, 1970, America's first official Earth Day, making it the third state in the country to combine its environmental activities into a single, unified agency, with about 1,400 employees in five divisions, charged with responsibility for environmental protection and conservation efforts. Governor William T. Cahill appointed Richard J. Sullivan as the first commissioner.
