Elizabeth Seton High School is a private school, private, all-girls Roman Catholic high school in Bladensburg, Maryland, United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. Elizabeth Seton High School was established on March 15, 1957, and opened with an enrollment of 138 freshmen and a faculty of six Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, Daughters of Charity in September 1959. Named after St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the school was established in 1954 and is staffed by the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill. History Originally known as "Seton High School" or later as "Seton Catholic High School", the school opened in 1954 in downtown Chandler. Initially founded as a parish school, Seton began to operate under the supervision of the Diocese of Phoenix as a diocesan school beginning in 1973. On September 12, 1980, a fire begun by one of the students destroyed much of the old campus, including eight classrooms in two buildings; the school would temporarily operate from the remaining classroom building, administration building, and gym. Seton Catholic High School was a Roman Catholic high school in Pittston, Pennsylvania named after Elizabeth Ann Seton. The school was originally called St. John's High School, and burned down on February 19, 1960. It was renovated in 1961, renamed in 1976 to the Seton Catholic High School, and was consolidated into Holy Redeemer High School in 2007. History The St. John's parochial schools date back to 1864 with the first graduating class of the St. John's Academy being in 1865. In 1881, plans for a free school were developed and an initial donation of $2,000 was provided by Michael Reap. The St. John's High School was chartered on March 17, 1900. Redeemer-Seton High School was a Catholic high school in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was permanently closed after Hurricane Katrina damaged the campus in September 2005. A formal honorary commencement ceremony was held for Katrina graduates at St. Rita's Church in New Orleans on June 25, 2006. History Redeemer-Seton was formed by the merger of two Catholic high schools, Redeemer High School (1980–1994) and Seton Academy (1976–1994).
