Jiřina Jirásková
Jiřina Jirásková (17 February 1931 – 7 January 2013) was a Czech actress. She was born and died in Prague, Czech Republic. Biography She studied at the Prague Conservatory and later at DAMU. After graduating, she spent one year in a regional theatre in Hradec Králové. In 1951, aged 20, she moved to the Prague's Vinohrady Theatre, where she spent her entire career. From 30 May 1990 to 30 June 2000, she was also the director of the theatre. Jirásková began to appear in TV in the 1950s; she played in the first Czechoslovak TV series ''Rodina Bláhova'' (Bláha Family). She got her first on-screen opportunity in the spy drama ''Smyk'', directed Zbyněk Brynych. She appeared in ''Every Penny Counts'' and ''Look Into His Eyes'', and also worked with comedic director Zdeněk Podskalský. Karel Kachyňa
Karel Kachyňa (1 May 1924 – 12 March 2004) was a Czech film director and screenwriter. His career spanned over five decades. Early life He was born on May 1, 1920, in Vyškov, Czechoslovakia. His father was a government officer. His mother was an art teacher. After spending first 4 years of his life in Vyškov, he moved with his family to Dačice and then Kroměříž. Kachyňa studied at Baťa School of Art in Zlín. During the WWII he was forced to work in a German factory Walter Georgi in Bernsbach. After the war he was able to finish high school and work on commercials at the Baťa film studios in Zlín. Kachyňa was then accepted at newly founded Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) to study cinematography and directing. Jiří Růžička (born 4 June 1941) is a Czech former basketball player. He was voted to the Czechoslovakian 20th Century Team in 2001. Playing career Club career During his club career, Růžička won six Czechoslovakian League championships (1965, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, and 1974). He also won the European-wide secondary level FIBA Saporta Cup championship, in the 1968–69 season. He was named to the FIBA European Selection Team in 1967. National team career With the senior Czechoslovakian national team, Růžička competed in the men's tournament at the 1972 Summer Olympics. A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement. Films in this style traditionally have a happy ending (black comedy being an exception). Comedy is one of the oldest genres in film and it is derived from the classical comedy in theatre. Some of the earliest silent films were comedies, as slapstick comedy often relies on visual depictions, without requiring sound. When sound films became more prevalent during the 1930s, comedy films took another swing, as laughter could result from burlesque situations but also dialogue.
