Varallo Sesia
Varallo Sesia (Piedmontese: ''Varal''), pronouciation (Vhuh-rahl-loh) commonly known as Varallo, is a ''comune'' and town in the province of Vercelli in the Piedmont region of Italy. It is situated in Valsesia, at above sea level and some north-northeast of Vercelli and northwest of Novara. Once called Varade, it is divided in two boroughs (Varallo Vecchia and Varallo Nuova) by the Mastallone stream. In 1971, Varallo was awarded the Golden Medal for Military Valor for the deeds of its population against the German occupation in the late stages of World War II. Geography The valley of the Sesia is very narrow at this point as it nears its source. Varallo lies on the left bank where the Mastallone flows into the Sesia. The town is surrounded by the foothills of the Alps and is not far from the Monte Rosa, which is visible from the surrounding hills. Valsesia
Valsesia ( pms, Valsesia; Walser German: ''Tseschrutol''; it, Valle della Sesia) is a group of valleys in the north-east of Piedmont in the Province of Vercelli, Italy; the principal valley is that of the river Sesia. The major towns located here are Varallo Sesia, Borgosesia and Serravalle Sesia; tourist villages include Alagna Valsesia, Rima San Giuseppe, Carcoforo and Scopello. While the valley mainly belongs to the province of Vercelli three of its ''comuni'', namely Romagnano Sesia, Prato Sesia and Grignasco, are part of the province of Novara. Business There are some industries in the lower towns of Varallo, Borgosesia, Quarona and Serravalle. These are mainly the textile industry and precision engineering companies. Cervo (river)
The Cervo (Piedmontese ''Sar'' or ''Serv'') is a torrent (a form of seasonally intermittent stream) in the Piedmont region of north-west Italy. It is the principal tributary of the river Sesia, which itself is a significant tributary of the Po. Etymology The name ''Cervo'' rather than from the Latin ''cervus'' (''deer'') should come from the Germanic ''saar'' (''stream'' or ''river''). Geography It crosses the provinces of Biella (communes of Piedicavallo, Rosazza, Campiglia Cervo, Sagliano Micca, Andorno Micca, Tollegno, Biella, Candelo and Castelletto Cervo) and Vercelli (Quinto Vercellese). The Cervo’s source is the Lago della Vecchia (close to the '' Rifugio della Vecchia'') in the Biellese Prealps. Sessera
The Sessera ( pms, Séssera) is a long torrent in the Piedmont region - NW Italy. Geography The Sessera starts in the Biellese Alps on the south-eastern slopes of Monte Bo. It initially flows from NW to SE and then encircles the Cima dell'Asnas and forms the artificial lake of Mischie, where it meets its first important tributary, the torrente Dolca (''Dolca creek''). With several meanders the Sessera reaches Coggiola and the inhabited part of its valley. Vercelli
