Servus Arena
Servus Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in downtown Red Deer, Alberta. Opened in January 2018, it was constructed on the site of the former Red Deer Arena (which was succeeded as Red Deer's primary events venue by ENMAX Centrium following its opening in 1994). History The arena replaced the Red Deer Arena, which first opened in 1952 and was demolished in 2016; equipment from the arena was salvaged and provided to other facilities, while its neon sign was incorporated into the new arena's design. The $21.6 million facility was scheduled to be completed by mid-2018, in anticipation of the 2019 Canada Winter Games. In 2017, Servus Credit Union acquired naming rights to the new facility, naming it Servus Arena. In November 2017, it was reported that construction was ahead of schedule, and that Servus Arena could open as early as January 2018. Red Deer is a city in Alberta, Canada, located midway on the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor. Red Deer serves central Alberta, and key industries include health care, retail trade, construction, oil and gas, hospitality, manufacturing and education. Three Hills Thrashers
The Three Hills Thrashers are a junior B ice hockey team based in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). They play their home games at Three Hills Centennial Place. The Thrashers hosted the 2008 Provincial Championships and finished with a silver medal. The Thrashers took a one year leave of absence from the Heritage Junior Hockey League, for the 2019-2020 season. In early 2020, a new group went to work to save the franchise, and successfully endeavoured to return to active status for the 2020-2021 season. Rogers Place is a multi-use indoor arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Construction started in March 2014, and the building officially opened on September 8, 2016. The arena has a seating capacity of 18,500 as a hockey venue and 20,734 as a concert venue. It replaced Northlands Coliseum (opened 1974) as the home of the National Hockey League, NHL's Edmonton Oilers and the Western Hockey League, WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings. The 2019 Canada Winter Games, officially known as the XXVII Canada Games, is a Canadian multi-sport event that was held in Red Deer, Alberta, from February 15, 2019, to March 3, 2019.
