Serua Province

It had a population of 15,461 at the 2007 census. According to a report by David Wilkinson an interpreter and advisor to Sir Arthur Hamilton-Gordon, 1st Baron Stanmore, 1st, Governor of Fiji, the region was one of the least stable regions of Fiji before cession in 1874. It led to the secession of the western part of the province into the neighbouring province of Nadroga-Navosa in 1916. Serua is part of the Burebasaga confederacy. The traditional head of the province is titled the Vunivalu of Korolevu and is based on the tiny island of Serua (to which the province is named after) just off the coast of the province. Burebasaga
Burebasaga is the largest of the three confederacies that make up Fiji's House of Chiefs, to which some of the Fijian chiefs belong. Composition of Burebasaga It consists of the provinces of Rewa Province, Nadroga, Serua, Kadavu off the coast of Suva, and parts of Ba and Namosi. Burebusaga covers the southern and western parts of the island of Viti Levu. The Western Division and the southern part of the Central Division belong to Burebasaga. Lomanikoro, in Rewa Province, is the capital of this confederacy. Chiefly titles The Roko Tui Dreketi is the Paramount Chief of the Burebasaga Confederacy. Unlike the Kubuna and Tovata confederacies, Burebasaga does not require its paramount chief to be a male. Vilimaina Davu
Vilimaina Davu (born 15 January 1977 in Nadi, Fiji) is a Fijian and New Zealand netball player, who has represented both countries in international netball as a goal keeper. Netball career On the netball court she was a veteran of more than 100 international tests. She made her senior international debut for Fiji in 1993, playing in 57 tests for her country of birth until 1999. In June 2000, Vilimaina was part of Team Pasifika who met the Silver Ferns in Auckland on 27 June and Palmerston North on 29 June. She then went on to join the World 7 team who played against the Silver Ferns, coached by Jill McIntosh. The World 7 team featured Kath Harby (Australia), Elaine Davis (Jamaica), Leana Du Plooy (South Africa) and Vilimaina Davu (Fiji) and Team Pasifika. She moved to New Zealand in 2000 and quickly established herself in the Silver Ferns defence circle. She also won the Fijian Sportswoman of the Year in 2000. Kele Leawere
Senikavika Kelemete Leawere (born 27 April 1974) is a Fijian rugby union player. He plays as a lock. Career He is the elder brother of former Fiji sevens rep, Mika Leawere and Sekove Leawere. He departed for New Zealand in 1996 and has made an excellent name for himself in NPC Division Two with East Coast, making 56 appearances and playing for the NZ Divisional XV against Italy and Ireland. He also played for the Fiji Warriors against the ACT Brumbies in 1997. He played for Nadroga and also represented the Coastal Stallions in the Colonial Cup. In October 2002, Leawere flew to Fiji to attend the national trials and won selection for the tour to Britain and Ireland, making his Test debut as a replacement against Scotland. He scored his first test try in June 2004 when he twisted and turned his way through the Samoan defense in Suva. He was a member of the Fiji team at the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
