Serrano High School is a public high school in the California High Desert community of Phelan, California. It serves students from Phelan, Wrightwood and Piñon Hills. It is part of the Snowline Joint Unified School District. The school is named for the Serrano people. Its mascot is the Diamondback. Rankings Serrano High School was nationally ranked #1,607 for best high schools for the 2009-2010 school year according to US News. With a student teacher ratio of 27:1, Serrano pulled a 21.5 on the college readiness index. Serrano was also ranked 38th within California. Phelan, California
Phelan is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in San Bernardino County, California, in the Victor Valley of the Mojave Desert, north of the San Gabriel Mountains. The population was 14,304 in the 2010 census. Geography Situated south of State Route 18 and northeast of State Route 138, the town is east of Palmdale and west of Victorville. The area around it is nearly flat desert country dotted with joshua trees and heavy brush. Southwestern areas of Phelan are in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, reaching elevations of more than 4,900 feet above sea level. The California Aqueduct runs through the northern half of the town, eleven miles (18 km) from State Route 18 and ten miles (16 km) from Phelan Road. The New York Red Bulls are an American professional soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Aaron Ray Long (born October 12, 1992) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a center-back for Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC and the United States national team. Born in Oak Hills, California, Long played four seasons of college soccer for the UC Riverside Highlanders before being drafted in the second round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Portland Timbers with the 36th overall pick. Charlotte Independence is an American soccer team based in Charlotte, North Carolina that plays in the USL League One, the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. Caleb Calvert (born October 22, 1996) is an American soccer player who most recently played for Saint Louis FC in the USL Championship. Early life and education Caleb attended Serrano High School in Phelan, California. He had originally committed to playing NCAA Division I collegiate soccer for the University of California, Santa Barbara men's soccer team alongside his Chivas USA Academy teammate Ben Spencer before electing to turn professional.
