Municipalities Of Catalonia
Catalonia is (as of 2018) divided into 947 Municipalities of Spain, municipalities. Each municipality typically represents one significant urban settlement, of any size from village to city, with its surrounding land. This is not always the case, though. Many municipalities have merged as a result of rural depopulation or simply for greater efficiency. Some large urban areas, for example Barcelona, consist of more than one municipality, each of which previously held a separate settlement. The Catalan government encourages mergers of very small municipalities; its "Report on the revision of Catalonia's territorial organisation model" (the ""), published in 2000 but not yet implemented, recommends many such mergers. Larger municipalities may sometimes grant the status of ''minor local entity, decentralised municipal entity'' ( ca, EMD, es, EATIM) to one or more of its settlements, for more effective provision of services or to substitute for its previous status as a separate mun ...

Ultramort
Ultramort is a village in the Provinces of Spain, province of Province of Girona, Girona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. Ultramort was first documented in 1046 with the name Ultramorte. From then on, mentions of the place become more frequent. The name Ultramort is made up of the Latin preposition ULTRA (meaning beyond) and the pre-Roman place name MURTA/MURTRA (meaning still water, well, pit, puddle). It was probably given the name from the perspective of one of the three villages on which it apparently depended until 1316 (Rupià, Rúpia, Parlavà, Paralvá, Foixà, Foixá). Ultramort would originally have been a small village depending on one of these three larger villages which were "on the other side of the pond", in other words ULTRA-MURTA. Montgrí Massif
The Montgrí () is a small mountain range in Catalonia, on the north bank of the Ter river. It is part of the Catalan Coastal Range and its highest point is 311 m. Features The Montgrí Massif stretches from east to west north of the town of Torroella de Montgrí, sheltering it from the Tramontana northern wind. Local people call it simply "el Montgrí". This long mountain formation looks like a sleeping bishop seen from afar. The Montgrí Massif is topped by an ancient fortress in the middle, the Montgrí Castle. Local people say the castle is the ring on the sleeping bishop's hand. It is a largely denuded karstic mountain, beaten by the persistent winds that blow in the region. It has some dunes at its feet, on its northern side, which formed by windblown sand coming from the shores of distant Roses. These dunes were fixed about a century ago by and lie now covered under low forest. The Medes Islands further east, beyond the town of l'Estartit, are a geological prolongatio ...

It is formed by the Parliament of Catalonia, the Presidency of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Executive Council of Catalonia (also very often referred to as ''Govern'', "Government"). Its origins are in the 13th century when permanent councils of deputies (deputations) were created to rule administration of the Courts of the different realms that formed the Crown of Aragon which gave birth to the Deputation of the General of the Principality of Catalonia (1359), the Deputation of the General of the Kingdom of Aragon (1362) and the Deputation of the General of the Kingdom of Valencia (1412). The modern Generalitat was established in 1931, as the institution of self-government of Catalonia within the Spanish Republic. Remaining in exile after t ...
