Seringueira Extractive Reserve ( pt, Reserva Extrativista Seringueira is an extractive reserve in the state of Rondônia, Brazil. Location The Seringueira Extractive Reserve is in the municipality of Vale do Anari, Rondônia, to the south of Machadinho d'Oeste, in land that has been largely deforested. It has an area of . The reserve is one of 15 small extractive reserves in the municipalities of Machadinho d'Oeste, Cujubim and Vale do Anari that originate in reservation blocks from the Machadinho and Cujubim colonization projects, cover the former Santo Antônio, São Paulo and São Gonçalo rubber plantations, and were created in the 1980s. Machadinho d'Oeste is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rondônia. Its population was 40,867 (2020) and its area is 8,509 km². The municipality contains part of the Jaru Biological Reserve, a fully protected conservation unit created in 1984. Rondônia () is one of the 26 states of Brazil, located in the northern subdivision of the country (central-western part). Copaiba is a stimulant oleoresin obtained from the trunk of several pinnate-leaved South American leguminous trees (genus ''Copaifera''). The thick, transparent exudate varies in color from light gold to dark brown, depending on the ratio of resin to essential oil. Copaiba is used in making varnishes and lacquers. The Association of Machadinho Rubber Tappers ( pt, Associação dos Seringueiros de Machadinho) operates fifteen small extractive reserves in the state of Rondônia, Brazil. They were formerly part of private rubber extraction concessions, and continue to be used by the descendants of the original rubber tappers to extract rubber and other forest products. Recently the reserves have been threatened by violence and illegal logging.
