Sergio Gómez (singer)
Paulo Sergio Gómez Sánchez (2 June 1973 – 2 December 2007), better known as Sergio Gómez, was a Mexican singer who was the founder and lead vocalist of the duranguense band K-Paz de la Sierra. Biography He was born in the city of Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacán in 1973. In 2003, while working in the city of Chicago in the United States, he created K-Paz de la Sierra with other native Mexicans also working in Chicago. Gomez lived in Avon, Indiana, just west of Indianapolis. Death Following a concert in the state of Michoacán, while traveling in a car in the early hours of a Sunday morning, Gómez and several other vocalists were abducted by a group of gunmen. The other passengers were later released, but Gómez's dead body was found on Morelia's outskirts, bearing signs of torture. His body was severely beaten, with bruises all over his chest and abdomen; his face was burned with a cigarette lighter, and had signs of strangling. Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacán
Ciudad Hidalgo, or simply Hidalgo, is a city and municipal seat of the Municipality of Hidalgo in the far northeast of the state of Michoacán, Mexico. It is a city located in a rural, mountainous area. While most of the city consists of modern buildings, its principal monument is the 16th-century church and former monastery of San José. Formerly, its name was Taximaroa, and it was the part of the Purépecha Empire closest to the Aztec Empire. This prompted two unsuccessful Aztec invasions as well as the first Spanish incursion into Purépecha lands in 1522. Valentín Elizalde Valencia (; 1 February 1979 – 25 November 2006) was a Regional Mexican singer. Duranguense Musicians
Duranguense is a genre of Regional Mexican music. It is a hybrid of Technobanda and Tamborazo. Its popularity peaked in the mid to late 2000s among the Mexican and Mexican American community in the United States, as well as in many parts of Mexico. The instruments held over from tamborazo are the saxophone, trombone, and tambora, while the instruments held over from technobanda are the electronic keyboard (more specifically the Korg X3, Korg N364, which are used for the main melody and the Yamaha DX7, which is used by many bands for the bass section), drum set, and vocals. The electronic keyboard is emphasized in Duranguense, giving the genre its own signature riff. The genre popularized the dance style, Pasito Duranguense.
