Sergio Villanueva Fernández
Sergio Villanueva Fernández (born 2 November 1975) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for CD Tuilla as a midfielder. Football career Born in Mieres, Asturias, Villanueva graduated from Caudal Deportivo's youth setup, and made his senior debut while on loan at amateurs Santiago de Aller CF in 1994. In 1996 he signed for Sporting de Gijón, being assigned to the reserves in Segunda División B but eventually returning to his first club in the following year, in a season-long loan deal. Villanueva moved to another reserve team in the summer of 1998, Deportivo Alavés B from Tercera División. In January of the following year he joined SD Noja in the third level, and subsequently represented Club Marino de Luanco, playing in both the third and fourth tiers. In July 2002, Villanueva signed with Segunda División's SD Eibar. Sergio Fernández Álvarez (born 9 February 1975) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Fernández was born in León, Castile and León. After playing most of his career in the third division (with a brief unassuming spell in the second with CD Numancia) he arrived at Hércules CF aged 28, and helped to a return to the second level in his second year. Following the outstanding 2008–09 season, where his club narrowly missed on a La Liga return, negotiations broke down for renovation of Fernández's contract so, in late June 2009, he agreed on a move to fellow league side Real Murcia. In the 2009–10 campaign, veteran Fernández was a defensive mainstay for Murcia, only missing three league games out of 42, but his team was eventually relegated. Sergio Fernández González (born 23 May 1977), known simply as Sergio, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central defender. In 16 years as a professional, he played mainly for Celta and Osasuna, starting and ending his career with Sporting de Gijón. He appeared in 295 La Liga matches over 15 seasons, scoring nine goals. Club career A tall, lanky defender, Sergio was born in Avilés, Asturias, and emerged through Sporting de Gijón's youth system, making his first appearance for the main squad on 7 January 1996 in a 3–2 home win against UD Salamanca. He would play three further seasons as first choice, with the club being relegated from La Liga in 1998. Sergio joined RC Celta de Vigo in the summer of 1999, being a somewhat important defensive figure in the Galicians' domestic and European consolidation.
