Sergey Stanislavovich Rakhmanin (russian: Сергей Станиславович Рахманин) (born October 18, 1961 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, Germany) is a Russian powered and glider aerobatic pilot and flight instructor. Powered aerobatic competitions In 1991, he became the last USSR Absolute Aerobatic Champion. Sergei Rakhmanin won the title in the overall category of FAI European Aerobatic Championships in 1999 and FAI World Aerobatic Championships in 2003 and in 2005. Glider aerobatic competitions He won the bronze medal in the 1995 World Glider Aerobatic Championships and the team gold together with Mikhail Mamistov and Victor Tchmal. Additionally, he won the team gold medal in the 1996 European Glider Aerobatic Championships together with Mikhail Mamistov and Sergei Krikalev. MX Aircraft MXS
The MXS is a single-seat aerobatic aircraft made of carbon fiber and built by MX Aircraft Company, a manufacturer located at Jandakot Airport in Perth, Western Australia. The MXS-R is a race variant flown by several pilots in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. The planes are all-composite in construction, piston-powered, low-wing monoplanes. They are produced both in kit form for amateur construction, and completed ready to fly at the factory. The MXS has won an entire decade of US Nationals Aerobatic Championships and World 4 Minute Free Style Championships and is regarded as the highest performance aerobatic airplane in the world. 2007 Red Bull Air Race World Series Season
The 2007 Red Bull Air Race World Series was the fifth Red Bull Air Race World Series season. New pilots Sergey Rakhmanin of Russia and Austrian Hannes Arch were chosen to join the 2007 series after completing a qualification course in October 2006, held in Arizona, United States. This takes the number of pilots to 13. Race calendar Three locations more were added to the race calendar in 2007, extending the number of rounds from 9 to 12. However, only 10 races were run due to cancellation of the legs in Barcelona, Spain and Acapulco, Mexico. The first race was held on April 6 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and the last one was on November 3 in Perth, Australia. Competition aerobatics is an air sport in which ground-based judges rate the skill of pilots performing aerobatic flying. It is practised in both piston-powered single-engine airplanes and also gliders. 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Series Season
The 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Championship was the eighth official Red Bull Air Race World Championship series. Paul Bonhomme became champion for the second successive year, finishing each of the six rounds of the championship in the top three placings, two of which were victories. Hannes Arch was the only other round winner, taking four victories but finished four points behind Bonhomme, after an eleventh-place finish in the season-opener in the United Arab Emirates. Nigel Lamb finished third with three runner-up placings, and three fourth places. At the end of the season, Red Bull Air Race GmbH announced that the series would take a one-year break in 2011, to reorganize and strengthen development and commercial aspects of the series.
