Sergei Mikhailovich Makarov (russian: link=no, Серге́й Миха́йлович Мака́ров; born 19 June 1958) is a Russian former ice hockey right wing. Makarov played on the gold-winning Soviet Union men's national ice hockey team at eight World Championships, and in the 1981 Canada Cup. At the Winter Olympics, he won the gold medal in 1984 and 1988 and a silver in 1980 . In the Soviet Union, Makarov played 11 championship seasons with CSKA Moscow (Red Army), winning the Soviet Player of the Year award (also known as Soviet MVP) three times. Together with Igor Larionov and Vladimir Krutov, they formed the ''KLM Line'', one of the most talented and feared lines ever to play hockey. He was awarded Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1984). He later played in the National Hockey League with the Calgary Flames, and won the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year at the age of 31. Sergey Aleksandrovich Makarov (russian: Серге́й Александрович Макаров; born March 19, 1973) is a retired Russian track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. His personal best throw of 92.61 m, set in 2002, is the Russian record. Facing tough competition throughout his career from Jan Železný, Steve Backley and others, Makarov did not win any major competition until 2003, when he became World Champion at the age of 30. Born into a sporting family, Makarov's father, Aleksandr, won the silver medal in the javelin throw at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Sergey Makarov (born 28 March 1980) is a Russian male volleyball player. He was part of the Russia men's national volleyball team at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Poland. He played for VC Kuzbass Kemerovo, Kuzbass. In 2011, as a part of the national team, Makarov won the World Cup.
