Serge Gruzinski
Serge Gruzinski (born 5 November 1949) is a French historian. He is a Latin America specialist. Career In 1969, he entered the École Nationale des Chartes and prepared a thesis on sixteenth-century Flanders under the direction of Pierre Goubert. In 1970, a trip to Mexico awakened his interest in this country. He was a member of the École française de Rome from 1973 to 1975 and the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. In 1983, he joined the CNRS where he became research director in 1989. He is also the director of studies at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences since 1993. Gruzinski is interested in the colonisation of the Americas and Asia, especially the colonial experiences like those cross-cultural areas, birth of hybrid spaces and first manifestations of globalisation. Tourcoing (; nl, Toerkonje ; vls, Terkoeje; pcd, Tourco) is a city in northern France on the Belgian border. ''Africultures'' is a publication of arts and culture about and from Africa and its diasporas. Based in Paris, it was founded in 1997 under the impetus of Olivier Barlet by journalists and academics such as Virginie Andriamirado, Gérald Arnaud, Tanella Boni, Sylvie Chalaye, Christophe Cassiau-Haurie, Fayçal Chehat, Soeuf Elbadawi, Boniface Mongo-Mboussa, etc. The magazine is managed by the association Africultures and it is published by L'Harmattan. In the field of book publishing, a collection or, more precisely, editorial collection (french: collection éditoriale; es, colección editorial; it, collana editoriale; pt, coleção de livros, translation=collection of books), is a set of books published by the same publisher, usually written by various authors, each book with its own title, but all grouped under the same collective title. The collective title is the title of the collection, it must be mentioned on each book. The books that make up an editorial collection can be published in a specific order or not. Carmen Bernand
Carmen Bernand (born Carmen Muñoz on 19 September 1939) is a French anthropologist, historian and Latin Americanist. Biography Carmen Bernand was born in France to Spanish refugee parents, she lived in Argentina for 25 years, where she studied Ethnology at University of Buenos Aires. At the end of 1964, she moved to Paris and prepared a postgraduate thesis under the direction of Claude Lévi-Strauss. In 1966, she married the epigraphist (1923–2013). Bernand is a specialist in the history of New World and Latin America, she conducted field surveys of Andean populations in Argentina, Peru and Ecuador. Since the late 1980s, she has devoted herself to the historical anthropology of Latin America. She teaches at the Paris Nanterre University and is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
