Serenade For Flute, Violin And Viola
The Serenade for flute, violin and viola, Op. 25, is a chamber composition by Ludwig van Beethoven. It is in the key of D major. Composition The serenade was written by Beethoven around 1801, though there are preliminary sketches from 1797 when Beethoven finished his earlier serenade Op. 8. The work was definitely finished by late 1801 when Beethoven offered it the publisher G. Cappi. In 1803, Franz Xaver Kleinheinz arranged the serenade for flute (or violin) and piano. Beethoven checked and approved this arrangement and it was printed as his Op. 41. Similar to his Septet of the same period, the work had great popular appeal and was profitable for the young composer. D major (or the key of D) is a major scale based on D, consisting of the pitches D, E, F, G, A, B, and C. Its key signature has two sharps. In musicology, the opus number is the "work number" that is assigned to a musical composition, or to a set of compositions, to indicate the chronological order of the composer's production. Opus numbers are used to distinguish among compositions with similar titles; the word is abbreviated as "Op." for a single work, or "Opp." when referring to more than one work. Chamber Music
Chamber music is a form of classical music that is composed for a small group of instruments—traditionally a group that could fit in a palace chamber or a large room. Most broadly, it includes any art music that is performed by a small number of performers, with one performer to a part (in contrast to orchestral music, in which each string part is played by a number of performers). However, by convention, it usually does not include solo instrument performances. Because of its intimate nature, chamber music has been described as "the music of friends". Franz Xaver Kleinheinz
Franz Xaver Kleinheinz (26 June 1765 – 29 January 1832) was an Austrian composer, piano teacher and Kapellmeister. Life Born in near Mindelheim, Kleinheinz first went to Munich and in 1799 to Vienna, where he met Beethoven and soon became a sought-after piano teacher. His pupils included Giulietta Guicciardi and the sisters Therese Brunsvik and Josephine Brunsvik. From 1805, he took up a second residence in Brno and in August 1810 he was appointed as Kapellmeister in Bratislava. At the beginning of May 1813, it is said that Kleinheinz, "one of the most excellent piano players", had resigned from his post in Pressburg and returned to Vienna. From 1814 to 1824, he worked as a conductor at the Deutsches Theater in Pest. Kleinheinz died in Pest at the age of 66. Septet (Beethoven)
The Septet in E-flat major for clarinet, Horn (instrument), horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, and double bass, Op. 20, by Ludwig van Beethoven, was sketched out in 1799, completed, and first performed in 1800 and published in 1802. The score contains the notation: "Der Kaiserin Maria Theresia gewidmet", or translated, "Dedicated to the Maria Theresa of Naples and Sicily, Empress Maria Theresa." It was one of Beethoven’s most popular works during his lifetime.
