''Serenade'' is a 1937 German drama film directed by Willi Forst and starring Hilde Krahl, Albert Matterstock and Igo Sym.Bock & Bergfelder p.259 The film was based on a novel by Theodor Storm, which was adapted again in 1958 as '' I'll Carry You in My Arms'' by Veit Harlan. The film's sets were designed by the art director Kurt Herlth and Werner Schlichting. Willi Forst
Willi Forst, born Wilhelm Anton Frohs (7 April 1903 – 11 August 1980) was an Austrian actor, screenwriter, film director, film producer and singer. As a debonair actor he was a darling of the German-speaking film audiences, as a director, one of the most significant makers of the Viennese period musical melodramas and comedies of the 1930s known as ''Wiener Filme''. From the mid-1930s he also recorded many records, largely of sentimental Viennese songs, for the Odeon Records label owned by Carl Lindström AG. Biography His first major role was opposite Marlene Dietrich in the silent film '' Café Elektric'' in 1927. However, he was best known for his characters in light musicals, which rapidly made him a star. Eduard Clemens Franz Anna Freiherr von Wangenheim (1 August 1871 – 22 July 1961), known as Eduard von Winterstein, was an Austrian-German film actor who appeared in over one hundred fifty German films during the silent and sound eras. He was also a noted theater actor. Biography Von Winterstein was born in Vienna on 1 August 1871 to landowner Hugo von Wangenheim and his second wife, Hungarian-born actress Aloysia "Luise" von Wangenheim-Dub. Klaus Detlef Sierck (30 March 1925 – 1944) was a German child actor. He was the son of the theatre and film director Hans Detlef Sierck (better-known today as Hollywood director Douglas Sirk) and the theatre actress Lydia Brincken. After his parents separated in 1928, Sierck grew up with his mother and was distanced from his father during the Nazi period after the latter married a Jewish woman.
