''Sepulcher'' is the second studio album by the American screamo band Infant Island. It was released without previous announcement on April 17, 2020, through Acrobat Unstable Records, Left Hand Label, and Zegema Beach Records. It was self-produced by the band, with help from Michael Toney of the mathcore band Black Matter Device. The album was critically acclaimed at the time of its release, often mentioned in conjunction with the band's next album ''Beneath'' due to their close release dates. The final listed track, "Awoken," was particularly praised, with music critic Ian Cohen writing in ''Pitchfork'' that it was "the kind of stunning, 10-minute scorched-earth aerial view that every screamo band tries to make." Infant Island is an American screamo band formed in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2016. The band consists of vocalist Daniel Kost, guitarists Alexander Rudenshiold and Winston Givler, bassist Kyle Guerra, and drummer Austin O'Rourke. History Formation and ''Infant Island'' (2016–2018) Infant Island was formed in the summer 2016 by vocalist Daniel Kost, guitarist Alexander Rudenshiold, bassist Kyle Guerra, and drummer James Rakestraw. On August 1, 2018, in advance of a U.S. and Canada tour, they released their self-titled debut album to critical acclaim. Post-rock
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. It was produced by Matthew Michel of Majority Rule at his studio in Dunn Loring, Virginia. The album features a guest vocal performance from Logan Rivera of Gillian Carter. Mathcore
Mathcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk and metalcore influenced by post-hardcore, extreme metal and math rock that developed during the 1990s. Bands in the genre emphasize complex and fluctuant rhythms through the use of irregular time signatures, polymeters, syncopations and tempo changes. Early mathcore lyrics were addressed from a realistic worldview and with a pessimistic, defiant, resentful or sarcastic point of view. Bradley Boatright (born 1976) is an American musician, record producer, and mastering engineer based in Portland, Oregon. Boatright is known for his work as a guitarist and vocalist in From Ashes Rise and The Cooters, and as a mastering engineer at Audiosiege, credited on recordings by Off!, American Standards, Sleep, Noothgrush, Pierced Arrows, and more. On December 25, 2011, he launched his own recording label, Audiosiege Media, which is a division of Moshpit Tragedy Records.
