Vojtěch Jasný
Vojtěch Jasný (30 November 1925 – 15 November 2019) was a Czech director, screenwriter and professor who has written and directed over 50 films. Jasný made feature and documentary films in Czechoslovakia, Germany, Austria, USA & Canada, and was a notable figure in the Czechoslovak New Wave movement of the 1960s. He is best remembered for his movies ''The Cassandra Cat'' and ''All My Compatriots'', both of which won prizes at Cannes Film Festival. In addition to his film career, he taught directing at film schools in Salzburg, Vienna, Munich and New York. Life Jasný was born in Kelč, Czechoslovakia on 30 November 1925. His father was a teacher. In 1929 his father bought a movie projector for a local Sokol club, which provided Jasný's first introduction to cinema. After watching Renoir's The Little Match Girl he decided to become a filmmaker. During his teens, he made amateur movies on a 9mm camera. Vlastimil Brodský
Vlastimil Brodský (15 December 1920 – 20 April 2002) was a Czech actor. He appeared in more than one hundred films, and is considered a key figure in the postwar development of Czech cinema. One of his best-known roles was as the title character in '' Jakob der Lügner'' for which won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 25th Berlin International Film Festival. He also played the king in the hit children's TV series '' Arabela'' and as Alois Drchlík in '' The Visitors''. His final film role was as a pensioner named Frantisek in '' Autumn Spring''. This role earned him his first and only Czech Lion (a prestigious film award), for best actor. Jiřina Steimarová (24 January 1916, Prague, Austria-Hungary – 7 October 2007, Prague, Czech Republic) was a Czech film and television actress. Steimarová made her screen debut in the controversial 1933 Hedy Lamarr film '' Ecstasy''. She appeared in nearly 40 films and TV shows during her career. Family Her parents were both actors. She was also the mother of actress Evelýna Steimarová and actor Jiří Kodet. Jiří Kodet, an award winning actor, predeceased his mother, dying from cancer in 2005. Jaroslav Mareš (actor)
Ing. Jaroslav Mareš (28 December 1937 in Brno, Czechoslovakia – 5 May 2021, Prague) was a Czech biologist, traveller and writer. He graduated from The University of Economics in Prague, getting a degree of Ing (he studied international business). He worked for ČSA in Iran and later in Canada. He visited 85 countries and organised several expeditions for research of cryptids, such as Kongamato (for this he was offered the membership of the International Society for Cryptozoology which he accepted), Nandi bear, Megalania prisca, Bigfoot, Yeti, Nessie, Ogopogo, Champ, megalodon, Lusca, Ambazombi and others. In 1978 he organised an expedition to the tepui which probably inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle for writing The Lost World (a book based on stories told to Doyle by Colonel Percy Fawcett).
