Seo Tai Ji (album)
''Seo Tai Ji'' is the debut studio album by Korean musician Seo Taiji, released in 1998. Although it is the first solo album by Seo, some refer to it as his fifth following the four albums released by Seo Taiji and Boys. The musician created the album entirely by himself, including playing every instrument and producing it. The album was released in 1998 while Seo lived in the United States and, with no promotion, it sold over 1.3 million units, making it one of the best-selling albums in South Korea. Background After having made the decision to disband Seo Taiji and Boys himself while recording their fourth album, Seo also announced he was retiring in January 1996. Seo Taiji
Jeong Hyeon-cheol (Korean: 정현철; born February 21, 1972), better known as Seo Taiji or Seo Tae-ji (서태지), is a South Korean singer, musician, songwriter and record producer. After dropping out of high school to pursue a music career, he rose to become one of the most prominent and influential cultural icons in South Korea, with many referring to him as "the President of Culture". Following a brief stint in the heavy metal band Sinawe, Taiji formed Seo Taiji and Boys in 1992 with whom he found immediate success. Their style of music, dance, fashion, and self-presentation resonated with the young generation—termed the sinsedae, "new generation." () was a South Korean music group active from 1992 to 1996. The three members of the boy band, Seo Taiji, Yang Hyun-suk and Lee Juno, experimented with many different genres of popular Western music. ''Seo Taiji and Boys IV'' is the fourth and final studio album by Korean musical trio Seo Taiji and Boys, released on October 5, 1995. With 2.4 million copies sold, it is one of the best-selling albums in South Korea. The single " Come Back Home" was released off of the album, and was voted the year's most popular K-pop song by netizens in 2005. Overview "Come Back Home" was a foray into Gangsta rap.
