''Senza Rete'' was a music show created by Giorgio Calabrese and broadcast by Rai 1 (at the time Programma Nazionale) from 1968 to 1975. History The first episode was aired June 27, 1968. Initially broadcast on Thursday night, thanks to the high ratings (up to 18 million viewers) starting from the third edition it was moved to the more prestigious Saturday night slot. Giorgio Calabrese
Giorgio Calabrese (28 November 1929 – 31 March 2016) was an Italian songwriter and frequent collaborator with French pop music star Charles Aznavour. Calabrese wrote the original Italian lyrics for the popular song " Softly, as I Leave You", and the Italian version of Aznavour's famous song, "She She most commonly refers to: *She (pronoun), the third person singular, feminine, nominative case pronoun in modern English. Bruno Canfora
Bruno Canfora (; 6 November 1924 – 4 August 2017) was an Italian composer, conductor, and music arranger. Life and career Born in Milan, Canfora studied piano at an early age, then studied oboe at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. During the Second World War, he played several concerts with his group in Trieste. After the war, he moved to Turin and became conductor of the Castellino Danze Orchestra. Besides having composed scores for television programs and films, Canfora is known for his work in pop music, particularly for his collaboration with Mina, for whom he composed songs like ''Brava'', ''Un bacio è troppo poco'', ''Mi sei scoppiato dentro il cuore'', ''Sono come tu mi vuoi'' and ''Vorrei che fosse amore'' (the latter two were also translated into other languages like Spanish, the latter also in French). Le Orme (Italian: "The Footprints") is an Italian progressive rock band formed in 1966 in Marghera, a ''frazione'' of Venice. The band was one of the major groups of the Italian progressive rock scene in the 1970s. They are one of few Italian rock bands to have success outside their own country, having played concerts across North America and Europe, and releasing an album in English at the height of their success. Roberto Vecchioni
Roberto Vecchioni (born 25 June 1943) is an Italian singer-songwriter, singer-lyricist, lyricist, teacher and writer. Biography Vecchioni was born in Carate Brianza, Province of Monza and Brianza, to a Neapolitan family . In 1968 he graduated in Classical Literature at the Catholic University of Milan, where he subsequently worked for two years as assistant lecturer of History of Religion. Later he was appointed professor of literature and history at a Milanese High School, an activity that he continued for almost thirty years and that would influence several of his songs. His career in the Italian music industry began in the late 1960s as songwriter for Italian pop stars such as Ornella Vanoni, Gigliola Cinquetti, Mina, Iva Zanicchi and the band Nuovi Angeli. Vecchioni's first solo album, ''Parabola'' was released in 1971. In 1973 he took part in the Sanremo Festival with "L'uomo che si gioca il cielo a dadi". Antonello Venditti
Antonio "Antonello" Venditti (born 8 March 1949) is an Italian singer-songwriter and pianist who became famous in the 1970s for the social themes of his songs. Biography Antonello Venditti was born in Rome, the son of Vincenzino Italo Venditti from Campolieto, in Molise, deputy-prefect in Rome, and Wanda Sicardi. He studied piano in his youth and made his debut in the music world in the early 1970s at the Folkstudio of Rome, together with singers like Francesco De Gregori and Giorgio Lo Cascio. In duo with the former he released in 1972 his first LP, ''Theorius Campus''. The LP scored little success, but Venditti at least made himself noted for the strength of his vocal qualities and for his attention to social issues, evidenced by pieces like "Sora Rosa", sung in Roman dialect. Enzo Jannacci
Vincenzo Jannacci (3 June 1935 – 29 March 2013), more commonly known as Enzo Jannacci (), was an Italian singer-songwriter, pianist, actor and comedian. Bruno Lauzi
Bruno Lauzi (; 8 August 1937 – 24 October 2006) was an Italian singer-songwriter, poet and writer. Biography Bruno Lauzi was born in Asmara, then part of the Italian Eastern Africa, to a Catholic father, Francesco Lauzi and a Jewish mother, Laura Nahum. In the 1960s he moved to Genoa, where he became part of the local music scene and met Gino Paoli, Luigi Tenco and Fabrizio De André. After a spell as song writer for Mia Martini, Georges Moustaki and Ornella Vanoni, Lauzi established himself as a renowned ''cantautore'' (singer-songwriter). His biggest hits include "Ritornerai" (1963), "Amore caro amore bello" (1972),"Onda su onda" (1974), "Genova per noi" (1975). In the 1980s he started a political career with the Italian Liberal Party, but without huge success. Suffering from Parkinson disease, he died in Peschiera Borromeo at age 69 from liver cancer.
