Nicholas Senn
Nicholas Senn (October 31, 1844 – January 2, 1908) was a Swiss born American surgeon, instructor, and founder of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He served as the president of the American Medical Association in 1897–98 and as chief surgeon of the Sixth Army Corps in 1898, seeing service in Cuba during the Spanish–American War. He was involved in experimental research, particularly of acute pancreatitis, plastic surgery, head and neck oncology, the intestinal tract, and the treatment of leukaemia with x-rays. Early life and education Senn was born in Sevelen, Switzerland and emigrated to the United States with his family in 1852 when he was eight years old, settling in Ashford, Wisconsin. Senn High School
Senn High School is a public four-year high school located in the Edgewater neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Senn is operated by the Chicago Public Schools system and was opened on 3 February 1913. The school is named in honor of surgeon, instructor, and founder of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States Nicholas Senn. Senn has advanced placement classes, an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, a fine arts program (theater, visual arts, dance, and music), and a Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program. It formerly housed the public but administratively separate, Hyman Rickover Naval Academy. The architect for the Senn High School building and campus was Arthur F. Deborah Mandel Senn (March 8, 1949 – February 18, 2022) was an American lawyer and politician of the Democratic Party. She was the 7th Washington Insurance Commissioner for two terms from 1993 to 2001. Frank Colvin Senn (born April 22, 1943, Buffalo, New York) is an American liturgist and pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Jordan Senn (born June 11, 1984) is a former American football linebacker. He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Portland State. Jean Antoine Petit-Senn
Jean Antoine Petit-Senn (born 6 April 1792 in Geneva – died 10 March 1870 in Chêne-Bourg, GE), aka John Petit-Senn, was a Swiss novelist, poet, singer, editor and politician. Life Petit-Senn was born in Geneva, when it was still the Republic of Geneva. Six years later it was occupied by the army of the French First Republic. Petit-Senn studied at the Academy of Geneva and then did an apprenticeship with a commercial company in Lyon. Following his return to Geneva in 1813, when it was still occupied by the French First Empire, he participated in the cultural life of the city. After Geneva joined the Swiss Confederation in 1814/15, Petit-Senn also engaged in politics, serving as a member of the cantonal parliament from 1829 until 1839. Petit-Senn is buried at the cemetery of Chêne-Bougeries. Johann Chrysostomus Senn (1 April 1795, Pfunds – 30 September 1857, Innsbruck; pseudonym: ''Bombastus Bebederwa'') was a political lyric poet of the Vormärz. Life Johann Senn was the son of the freedom fighter, Franz Michael Senn. He lived in Vienna from 1807 and attended the Akademische Gymnasium. He was a pupil of the Wiener Stadtkonvikt along with Franz Schubert. He later studied philosophy, law und medicine, none of which he managed to complete. He became a teacher to Baron Anton von Doblhoff-Dier. From 1815, his interest in politics grew ever more strident. Franz Senn
Franz Xaverius Senn (19 March 1831 – 31 January 1884) was an Austrian priest and mountaineer who was among the first to promote alpinism and foster the early development of mountaineering in Tyrol. His concern for the poverty of his parishioners led him to encourage tourism into the Stubaital and Ötztal valleys. Senn was a founding member of the Austrian and German alpine associations. Nikolaus Senn (22 October 1926 – 2 November 2014) was a Swiss jurist, economist and banker. Life Nikolaus Senn studied since 1945 jurisprudence and public administration at the University of Freiburg, University of Zürich, University of Lausanne and University of Bern (promotion in 1950), and finished his education as advocate in 1951 in St. Gallen. Franz Senn Hut
The Franz Senn Hut (german: Franz-Senn-Hütte) is a large and very popular Category I alpine hut in the Stubai Alps owned by the Austrian Alpine Club (''Österreichischer Alpenverein''). At the time it had accommodation for 37 people including 4 women. It was extended in 1907/08 to 20 beds and 60 shakedowns and again in 1932/33 to 80 beds and 80 sleeping places. Mark Senn
Mark Cecil Senn (1 June 1878 – 10 January 1951) was a Canadian farmer, merchant, teacher and politician. Senn served as a Conservative and Progressive Conservative party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Oneida, Ontario. He was first elected to Parliament at the Haldimand riding in the 1921 general election, initially under the Conservative party. Senn was re-elected in 1925, 1926, 1930, 1935, 1940 and 1945.
