Turkey took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1975. The country was represented by Semiha Yankı with the song "Seninle Bir Dakika" written by Hikmet Münir Ebcioğlu and composed by Kemal Ebcioğlu. It came last in the Eurovision 1975. Before Eurovision ''Şarkı Yarışması'' The Turkish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1975 was chosen during a national final called ''Şarkı Yarışması''. Competing entries 105 songs were submitted to TRT and 17 were shortlisted by a selection committee for the national final. In early 1975, "Boşver" performed by Nilüfer withdrew from the selection due to plagiarism claims. "Umut" performed by Şenay also withdrew as Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu, his wife, was a member of the committee. Eurovision Song Contest 1975
The Eurovision Song Contest 1975 was the 20th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Stockholm, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song " Waterloo" by ABBA. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Radio (SR), the contest was held at Stockholmsmässan on 22 March 1975, and was hosted by Swedish television director Karin Falck. It was the first time that the contest had taken place in Sweden. Nineteen countries participated in the contest, beating the previous record of eighteen, that was first set in the 1965 edition. France and Malta returned after their one-year and two-year absences, respectively. Turkey made its debut, while Greece decided not to enter after its debut the year prior. The winner of the contest was the Netherlands who won with the song "Ding-a-dong", performed by Teach-In, written by Will Luikinga and Eddy Ouwens, and composed by Dick Bakker. Turkish Radio And Television Corporation
The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT; Turkish : ) is the national public broadcaster of Turkey, founded in 1964. TRT was for many years the only television and radio provider in Turkey. Before the introduction of commercial radio in 1990, and subsequently commercial television in 1992, it held a monopoly on broadcasting. More recent deregulation of the Turkish television broadcasting market produced analogue cable television. Today, TRT broadcasts around the world, especially in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Çiğdem Talu
Çiğdem Talu (October 31, 1939 – May 28, 1983) was a Turkish pop music lyricist. The writer Ercüment Ekrem Talu was her grandfather. Çiğdem wrote her first song "''Ağlıyorum Yine''", which was sung by Nilüfer and released on her single, "''Kalbim Bir Pusula''". The great success of this song led her to write songs for many other singers, among them for Yeliz and Füsun Önal. Turkey participated at the Eurovision Song Contest 1975 held in Stockholm, Sweden for the first time, and three songs written by Talu were in the qualification in Ankara. Yeşim Yılmaz (born November 7, 1956) is a Turkish singer and songwriter. Career At the age of five she attended the Mithat Fenmen Ballet School in Ankara. Cici Kızlar
Cici Kızlar (literally "Cute Girls") were a Turkish female vocal trio. The group initially was composed of three singers, Şebnem Aksu, Birnur Bilginoğlu and Sibel Egemen. Sibel Egemen left the group due to difficulty she felt running education and music together. When they decided to enter Turkish under contest for Eurovision song contest in 1975, Bilgen Bengü was also included in the group. Their entry was ''Delisin'' (You're mad) a dynamic melody composed by Atilla Özdemiroğlu. They received high points (second high after Ali Rıza Binboğa) from the people's jury and they shared the first place with Semiha Yankı who had received higher points from the professional jury. Attila Özdemiroğlu (5 January 1943 – 20 April 2016) was a Turkish composer, arranger and music producer. He was best known for his award winning film scores in the 1970s and 1980s. Career Born on 5 January 1943 in Ankara, Özdemiroğlu got interested in playing music already in his early years. At his age of eight, he took private lessons on violin. Learning to play many music instruments such as flute, vibraphone, double bass and trombone, he participated at music events during his high school and university years. Füsun Önal (born 11 March 1947, Kadıköy, Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish pop singer, theatre actress, and writer. Biography Önal's father was a soldier in the Turkish army; her mother was a housewife.
