Seng Han Thong
Seng Han Thong ( zh, s=成汉通, p=Chéng Hàntōng; born 22 April 1950) is a Singaporean former politician. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was a Member of Parliament representing the Yio Chu Kang ward of Ang Mo Kio GRC from 1997 to 2006, and Yio Chu Kang SMC from 2006 to 2011. Education Seng attended Tuan Mong High School (now Ngee Ann Secondary School), graduating in 1967. He holds a Master degree in Public Administration and Management from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from the Henley Business School, Brunel University. Career Afterwards, he held various jobs including as a sales representative for a watch company and a certified interpreter in the judicial system of Singapore. Cheng (surname)
Cheng can be a transcription of one of several Chinese surnames. Since the syllable ''Cheng'' represents different sounds in Hanyu pinyin and the Wade–Giles systems of Chinese romanization, some ambiguity will exist as to which sound is represented by the letters "Cheng" if the romanisation and tone is not known. ''Nanyang Siang Pau'' or ''Nanyang Business Daily'' () was founded by philanthropist-entrepreneur Tan Kah Kee on 6 September 1923 in Straits Settlements, currently published in Malaysia. ''Nanyang Siang Pau'' is one of the oldest Chinese-language newspapers in the country, with only ''Kwong Wah Yit Poh'' having been published longer. It has been published continuously except for four months in 1923 and 1924 and during the World War II between 1942 and 1945, before publication resumed on 8 September 1945. History Originally started in Straits Settlements, the newspaper first ventured into Kuala Lumpur in 1958, but the newspaper remains printed in Singapore.
