John Warner
John William Warner III (February 18, 1927 – May 25, 2021) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the United States Secretary of the Navy from 1972 to 1974 and as a five-term Republican U.S. Senator from Virginia from 1979 to 2009. Warner served as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee from 1999 to 2001, and again from 2003 to 2007. He also served as the Chair of the Senate Rules Committee from 1995 to 1999. Warner was a veteran of the Second World War and Korean War, and was one of five World War II veterans serving in the Senate at the time of his retirement. He did not seek reelection in 2008. After leaving the Senate, he worked for the law firm of Hogan Lovells, where he had previously been employed before joining the United States Department of Defense as the Under Secretary of the Navy during the presidency of Richard Nixon in 1969. Mark Robert Warner (born December 15, 1954) is an American businessman and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Virginia, a seat he has held since 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, Warner served as the 69th governor of Virginia from 2002 to 2006. He is vice chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Warner is the honorary chairman of Forward Together PAC. Apart from politics, he is known for his involvement in telecommunications-related venture capital during the 1980s; he founded the firm Columbia Capital. Willard Warner
Willard Warner (September 4, 1826 – November 23, 1906) was a brevet brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was a U.S. senator from the state of Alabama after the war. Early life and career Warner was born in Granville, Ohio. His great-grandfather was Luke Knowlton, a founder of Newfane, Vermont, and a leader of Vermont during the American Revolution. He graduated from Marietta College, and founded the Newark Machine Works in Newark, Ohio. He was the brother-in-law of future Civil War general Charles R. Woods of Newark. William Warner (Missouri Politician)
William Warner (June 11, 1840 – October 4, 1916) was an American lawyer and politician based in Kansas City, Missouri. He became mayor of Kansas City in 1871, serving a one year term. He later represented Missouri in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Early life Warner was born in Shullsburg, in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. His parents died in his youth, and he was raised by his sister, Mary Ann Warner Webb and her husband, Daniel Webb III. He studied law at Lawrence University and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and admitted to the bar in 1861. He enlisted in 1862 as a 1st Lieutenant in the 33rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment and was mustered out at the close of the Civil War in Madison, Wisconsin with the rank of major. Clement Edson Warner (February 23, 1836May 20, 1916) was an American farmer, Republican politician, and Union Army officer in the American Civil War. He served with the 36th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment and commanded the regiment near the end of the war. Hans Bertel Warner (born Hans Bertel Pederson; July 12, 1844August 18, 1896) was a Norwegian American immigrant, farmer, and Republican politician. He was the 12th Secretary of State of Wisconsin and served four years in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Eau Claire, Pepin, and Pierce counties. Early life Warner was born Hans Bertel in the valley of Gudbrandsdalen in Oppland, Norway. As a young boy in 1849, he emigrated to the United States with his parents. They originally settled in Dodge County, Wisconsin, but in 1855 relocated to Martell, in Pierce County, Wisconsin. His mother died that year and he was subsequently adopted out of the family by Judson and Almira Warner. Ivan Warner (February 18, 1919 – January 26, 1994) was an American lawyer and politician in New York. Life He was born on February 18, 1919, in Manhattan, New York City, the son of immigrants from Saint Kitts. He dropped out of Morris Evening High School, and worked as a clerk for the New York City Rent Commission. In 1949, he was hired by Congressman Isidore Dollinger as an aide, and went to Washington, D.C. While working for Dollinger, he completed his education in the evenings at the American University. Then he studied law at Brooklyn Law School, was admitted to the bar in 1955, and practiced law in New York City.
